I'm mounting this beauty up as we speak. A classic! But look at that date of manufacture!! (Customer supplied).

That's new compared to the one I posted which could be a good hint....

Id say dunlop , though which of the older models Im not positive on
Dunlop always favored that "L" shape cut and squiggle line sort of thing.

8541Hawk 04-12-2017 09:02 AM

We are getting close.....yes it is a Dunlop. Though there are only a few of us left that have seen that tire mounted on a VTR......

Out back she has a almost new Qualifier.....with a date code of 0806....

8541Hawk 04-12-2017 02:20 PM

A few more hints before I spill it..... no date code and a made in Japan Dunlop..... that should do it

As most have never seen this tire, what we have here is a 20 yr old OEM Dunlop 204.

Yep the bike I am messing with now is still has the as delivered stock front tire...talk about low mileage....

RedStormJ 04-13-2017 10:27 AM

Balls thats scary as heck. Im skinned up on my front but have not had the time to throw on the new guy. Hopefully Saturday.

E.Marquez 04-13-2017 11:08 AM

They still make the comparable rear, Dunlop D250

The D204 I remember coming OEM on mid to late 1980's bikes like the VFR

It was the OEM VTR tire also, in fact it was claimed that the 204s were the only tire you could run due to it being that it was the only safe tire with the tuned flex per Honda......and they were ok in the dry and scary in the wet....
So a set of 207s went on my bike and haven't looked back from there....

I was thinking the VTR came with bridgestones, but the D204 sounded right as well.

I ran D209 here in Oz until they became unobtainable.

Now I ruin Bridgestone S21 , a great tyre however my suspension is not standard and I have a braced swinger as well.

Page 1-4 of your service manual..... Dunlop 204 or Michelin Macadam 90X
Though I never saw any new bikes, on the west coast, with the Michelins.
