Gripper Seat Cover
Has anyone bought or found a "gripper" style seat cover? My 17 year old cover is pretty slippery! They sell them all day long for dirt bikes, but not so much for street.
I have found some called gripper seat covers on ebay, but the way things work these days they could be totally worthless. Yes, I know I can look for a used sargent or corbin - and have been - but they cost fortunes. Might just see what a local upholstery shop can do. |
I picked up some vynil at the fabric store and redid mine, its pretty straight forward if you have a staple gun and some headliner adhesive... check out what they have because you can do it yourself for a lot cheaper then a high end seat or paying an upholsterer

For a temporary fix you can use black shelfliner grippy rubber stuff. I just did the front of my seat where I sit to prevent being slid back.
You may be surprised but you don't really use the whole seat. just the front bit. I got the idea from my triboseat cover for the passenger seat. Same type of effect. Kinda like this Duck Brand 1359572 Non Adhesive Select Grip Easy Shelf Liner 12 inch x New | eBay |
Smokinjoe, that's exactly the kind of idea I was looking for. A swath of that material across the seat will make all the difference in the world.
I also found gripper fabric if I wanted to re-cover the entire seat, but think your idea is even more convenient. |
I had found some nice "carbon fiber" texture seat covers for my fzr600 project on ebay last year. I looked those people up for you but unfortunately they're no longer on there. I do have a brand new in the package red & black cover from Second Look if you're interested. Some of the links aren't working on their website but last time I looked I think they were 99.99 or something. PM me if you'd be interested.
