I actually just ran into a guy when I bought my TIG welder last month, that can make the adapter for me. He works exclusively on motorcycles too, so he was into it. I got his contact information for when I want to tackle the adapter. If so, if you ever have the carbs off and stripped Im sure a few would like to have close up photos and and carb setup specs...... You know, just if you are bored some day. LOL |

All you have to do is pull the bottom, top and stack on the carbs. Then put it back together.

I think going into this purchase you should have recognized you owed this community a comprehensive, well documented tear down detailing every modification, component and fastener with lots and lots of pictures, a thoroughly researched history and some type of abstract of the why's and wherefores.
One does not simply buy this for themselves. Not and tell this board about it anywho. |

Thank you for the additional photos and info I am almost certain that this is an ST2 racebike which definitely makes it pretty rare. I also think that it was originally built by me in my workshop in the UK. It would be interesting to find out how it got to the US and previous owners. If you could get that info I may be able to tell you more about it. I am still trying to contact the guys who have the spare ram air set ups. I will get hold of them soon. Regarding the carbs, Moriwaki made special magnesium carbs for the ST2 &ST3 complete with special jet kits. You may well have a set on your bike but not every customer bought the carbs as they were expensive. They are like gold dust and sell for far more than you have paid for the whole bike!! If you can show me some close up photos of the needles I can tell you if you have Moriwaki carbs. I am looking for markings just below the top of the needle which will read either Q, Q1 or Q2. The fact that the carbs have the Moriwaki aluminium air velocity stacks points to the fact they are Mori carbs. The Moriwaki airbox does not require an air filter. The last set of these carbs that came on the market fetched more than $2000.00 USD!! I built four ST2 bikes that competed in the British Superbike “Production” (now Superstock) under “Holiday 18/30” sponsorship and one of these bikes is unaccounted for at the moment |
I just read about these special carbs. Apparently, these carbs were almost identical to stock carbs, except for the fact they were made from magnesium for light weight. I read these were mostly hand made pieces and the reason they were so expensive. I think those were Roger's words that I read on the UK site. I'll search for a link for you to read it as well.

any closeup pictures of the carbs will tell if they were die made. I'd imagine the "handmade" sections are rather than a machine doing the through work on holes within the carb bodies like on the production Superhawk line, a single person did these sets of carbs |
I found the information from Roger D. back on 8/28/12
The Moriwaki carbs were magnesium bodies for lightness but are identical to the production carb bodies and they had spun aluminium air stacks (funnels) instead of the plastic OEM ones. They also had different needles, slide springs (heavier) and jet sizes but that is all. They were HUGELY expensive as they were virtually hand made and I actually do have a set with additional jet and needle kit in stock but the Moriwaki Recommended Retail Price is £1250.00 GBP!!!!! It is very unlikely that I will ever sell them!! *** Using the Standard OEM carbs with a Dynojet Kit you can achieve the same performance especially as you have already got Aluminium air stacks. |
So, maybe this Roger guy knows a thing or two.
