Yes...you saw that right.. $900 for the whole bike. With Moriwaki zero full high mount exhaust, pistons, cams, ram air with modified gas tank. Heads have been ported and polished.

Also came with performance machines chicane wheels, a braced swingarm, and rearsets. Sure I'm forgetting something.

Couldn't pass it up for the price.

CruxGNZ 03-29-2016 07:22 PM

Holy crap! You lucky #%$&!

Did you find that in Springfield, Ill? If so, I am REALLY pissed that I didn't extend my city range further away from me. Damn.

Please show us more pictures of all the cool stuff!

taskmasta 03-29-2016 07:49 PM

It is in Springfield, Va. I'll get some better pictures once I pick it up later this week.

YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VTR1000F 03-29-2016 08:07 PM

Congrats masta. I'm very happy for you. I look forward to a build thread centered around this rolling chassis. Best of luck in all things.

taskmasta 03-29-2016 08:42 PM

Just remembered it has suspension work done front and rear. Also a strengthened crankshaft. I need to ask him at that was done to it again.

ren 03-29-2016 09:30 PM

wow, just wow

smokinjoe73 03-29-2016 10:12 PM

I'll give you $907 right now. No make that a cool $910. Cash money. Well, some food stamps. And my weedwacker.

I can come finish the deal anytime.

Wicky 03-30-2016 12:56 AM

Braced frame extensions around the swingarm axle, and probably moriwaki titanium headers.

Absolute bargain!

Have you any higher-res pics?

taskmasta 03-30-2016 07:50 AM

You're right. I didn't even notice that the frame was braced. And yes the exhaust is a full exhaust not a slip on.

Wow. Even got adjustable head angle.

Actually, no. The adjustment is for the length of trail, the angle itself remains the same. There is a corresponding eccentric in the lower triple clamp.

Just_Nick 03-30-2016 12:45 PM

Crazy

kenmoore 03-30-2016 12:46 PM

Starve The Lizards Cobber,

You are one lucky fella!

More detailed pics please and some sound if it is running!

taskmasta 03-30-2016 01:17 PM

I'll take some pictures when I get it trailered and in my garage.

mikstr 03-30-2016 02:22 PM

Looks somewhat like a Moriwaki Stage 2 bike (though the frame "ears" are different from the Spondons)... good score, congrats!!!!!!

smokinjoe73 03-30-2016 07:20 PM

So yeah, what all is done to the frame? The waffling is filled with weld? What other bracing?

Braced from frame to swingarm attachment point on the engine.

This bike or a stable mate, was on display at the Indy dealer show upteen years ago. I cant remember what booth was displaying it(possibly Harris),but it and the CBR 900 Formula Extreme bike with it had the best of aftermarket trickery available at the time.
The Mori Hawks and the one fielded by Erion garnered more crowd attention than the Fast By Ferrachi Ducks, and that was during their heyday. One of the reasons I have an early release 98 sitting in the garage right now.
This is an ultimate find, congrats.

Get any pictures of that? Would love to see what it was intended to look like.

VTR1000F 03-30-2016 08:28 PM

Yeah, this is kind of cool and all, but that extra bracing is gonna completely screw up the tuned-flex chasis design. Just sayin'.

Its was deemed needed on the big HP VTRs as there was trouble with swingarm mounts I believe.

VTR1000F 03-30-2016 10:25 PM

Naw, I just think OCMD got the best of someone.

rktdoc 03-31-2016 04:20 AM

Had. Had a bunch of pics of various vtwins on display that year that got lost in a move.Wish I still had the catalogs I picked up even, as nearly every major tuner and aftermarket vendor had a slew of goodies for the bike.
NZ is correct on the extra bracing. I was told that when the bikes were pushed up around 160BHP that the stress of high G cornering and crankshaft load would break the engine cases in the pivot area.
Lessons learned from it is why the RC51 was built from a clean sheet, and the tuned flex in the frame was forgotten about.

www.vtr1000.org ? View topic - New bike - Moriwaki race vtr

Hi Guys, In this thread there has been several references to the "ears" in the Spondon frame. This the story. The development of the VTR was originally given to Russell Savoury by Honda UK who employed the services of Mick Grant as a consultant. After more than a year the project had failed to achieve too much progress and while I was at the Suzuka 8 hour I was asked by HRC if I would be interested in taking over the project. I agree provided that Russel was happy to do that - which he was. When I took over and uplifted all the bikes and equipment from Harlow I had five modified frames. Enquiries revealed that Spondon were asked to do this by Mick to cure high speed straight line weaving. I then examined the dampers that had arrived only to find that they had been extended between 15mm and 25mm centre eye to centre eye longer than standard of 345mm! IMHO the "ears" were fitted in an attempt to cure a self inflicted problem. As already mentioned in previous posts no ST3 race bikes producing far more power than Russels best of 118bhp ever ran with this modification including mine. The standard frame was modified and I have done this modification on two customer bikes in the UK. I left the Spondon ears on my ST2 Production race bikes purely because they did no harm to the new Revolution suspension set up and the then ACU Minimum Race Weight Regulation for that class allowed then to stay there. If you have a VTR bike exceeding 135bhp I recommend the Standard frame modifications as used on all ST3s
