Who lives there?

I'll be in town July 4 -July 16. Dad has a VFR750, might ride it a few times, or if someone has a second bike I can borrow, he'll ride with us. Kids will be with me, so some advance planning might be needed.

Let me know.

Skullhead, you're gonna go DOH! again, when you realize you misread the dates. JULY 4 - JULY 16.

I'll hit ya up while I'm out there.

Double DOH....

Ah well your right. Not only should I try checking the forum more often but actually reading the posts might help some as well.....

This is a forum about knitting sweaters with the Hoda Superknitter.....isn't it??? Now if I could just get a knee down as I'm knitting I could get rid of those chicken stripes at the edge of my sweaters.

The Sportbike Club I ride with (CFRSR.ORG) has a great ride planned on Saturday the 11th with a party after...your welcome to come to both and crash if you need to. Heck, anyone is welcome that isn't a total "squid".

I'm here in Fort Collins. Lots of good riding around here, you'll have fun on that VFR. There are a few other SuperChicken owners who congregate at Full Throttle Coffee (formerly MotoHaus) every Thursday night. I'm sure we could organize some sort of informal ride with a bunch of folks.

I recently moved to Fort Collins, was wondering if there were bike clubs around? How does one get involved? I recently rode around in Horsetooth, anyone have any ideas of where else I can go that has awesome views? Thanks.

Eh, there are clubs around, but its mainly Harvey Donaldson groups. Not my cup of tea, but it might be yours. Can't help you there. Thursday Bike Night is good to meet folks who want to ride without a lot of the bar scene b.s., which is why I usually go there instead.

Some awesome rides in the area:

W. Horsetooth around south side of lake to Masonville. Up CR27 (Buckhorn Road/Masonville valley) to Stove Prarie. At the junction, either go down Rist Canyon into Bellvue or continue on to Poudre Canyon and down to Teds Place. Rist Canyon is fantastic on a SuperHawk.

W. Horsetooth around south side of lake to Masonville, south on Buckhorn Rd. to HWY 34 and up to Estes.

Fort Collins up 287 to Teds Place, up Poudre Canyon (14) to Cameron Pass to Walden. Return same way or go up to WyColo and up over to Laramie and back down 287. Or, be a real hero and go Walden to Saratoga, soak in the hot springs, then up over HWY 230 over the Snowy Range Mountains to Laramie.

287 North to Red Feathers. Red Feather Lakes Road, then off the pavement for 15 miles to the Bhuddist Temple. Pretty neat to see.

I used to live in Rist Canyon. That would be a cool ride.

Of those mentioned, the only one I haven't done is up to the Temple. Been to all of the others.

Definitely have to meet up for a ride. He just bought a KLX650. So we'll have the KLX and the VFR to ride.

Can't wait to ride out there.

A party you say? I'll have to talk to mom and dad about that. My club is here: myspace.com/wsr4lyfe

Beerman,

As for "official" clubs we really have only 2.

Cfrsr.org (Colorado Front Range Sportbike Riders)

and

cosportbikeclub.org (Colorado Sportbike Club)

I personally havent been out to the coffee joint yet but some of my rider friends like it. Maybe I'll stop by some time.

I ride with CFRSR 90% of the time but have headed out with cosportbikeclub a time or two. In fact quite a few people are members of both clubs. As for rides, there are tons! Some of my favorites are Peak to Peak, Steamboat Springs and back, Bishops castle and then there is allways our ride to Vegas every year.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I will have to try and hit up the coffee shop Thursday night.
SkullHeadNoPants, how many people ride with CFRSR on any given trip? I love Vegas, how long does it take you to get out there?

Weather looks to be good so far for Bike Night tonight. As usual though, be prepared for a quick passing storm. 2 weeks ago I got hailed on while riding home, last week it rained like hell for about 3 minutes and then cleared off. Should be a fun night though.

About three years ago we were sitting at about 23 people per ride....that was something! I wasn't on this ride but they actually got pulled over heading up to Steamboat Springs by a Helicopter. It's a great story to listen to. Anyway, I did the Vegas ride in 06' and that year we did the ride in two days. That is...two out...couple of days there....two back. Each year the plans change a bit. Take a look at the website it should be posted there.

What is a Harvey Donaldson? Is it anything like a Big Mother Whacker? Oh, that's "BMW" to the uninitiated...
