Front Paddock Stand??

Hey all, I’ve been looking into front stand options to purchase for maintenance and off-season storage and came across this one from R&G. Looks to have a set of pins that seat into the bottom of the front forks.

Anyone currently have this or had one in the past? I’ve already got a rear stand but would like to have a front as well. Thanks in advance!

That style works as long as your not removing the front wheel..

So if its just to get the tire off the ground, spin the wheel to clean, ect they work.

If your plans include the front wheel coming off, you need a pin stand that holds from under the steering stem

It’s mostly for cleaning and off season storage but definitely good feedback...was mostly curious if the pin design works on those stands. All I’ve usually seen have a different bike mount part. I’d really like one of the full ABBA lifts but I’m tryin to ball on a budget haha

If you can find one with these style ends, you will be able to remove the front wheel.

I use one like this at work. They can be slightly opened and closed to fit every bike out there.

I’ve actually got a front stand like the red one ^^^ from when I had my zx6r, but it is super sketchy as the forks don’t seem stable between the stand rollers. The brake caliper mount posts on the forks where the back roller basically “hooks” under aren’t as low on the Super Hawks as they are on the supersports I’ve found.

Probably going to look into the pin-style stands now that I know other ppl use them and I’m not crazy haha

You can but I do not recommend it. With the fork legs able to move interdependently, its a crash in the garage waiting to happen

Yes I know people that do it anyway,,,,,I also have seen the bike fall over because they were using that type of front stand.

The pin type steering head stand is just a more stable design ..
To each his own

I use the pitbull front stand here:
https://www.pit-bull.com/motorcycle-...tand-f0100-100

Love it, no wobble or issues, and it fits all my bikes.

I've been using that very style in my home garage for loooooong time. I've never had an issue with instability. I think it would take great effort to spin a leg on mine. Guess to each his own.

The steering stem type are good for fork removal, yes. If you want and can afford it, go that way.
Having known what I know after 3+ years at the shop, I would have definitely gone with the pin style. The only issue with them is sometimes the pins hit axle or pinch bolts. That's the only thing I'd watch for on first usage.
The pins would not work with my Ducati though. So what I have gets used for it when needed. Never felt sketchy.

I love my headstand, its very stable and I can easily remove the wheel and forks for servicing.

What brand is this might I ask? I had a PSR head-stand with pin that I tried too for the S/H but the head tubing hit the nose fairing. That’d be my only concern with headstands. Otherwise those would be the solid choice I think. Just don’t wanna rest it on the bodywork lol...granted I may not have had the proper head-pin during the mock up attempt so I’ll totally own that lol

I have a PSR and Pitbull head lift stands.. BOTH will hit the fairing as you lift if you do not use the correct pin and position the lift correctly (and of course the bike needs to be on the rear stand first)

If I control the front lift position on the floor, I can get the bike up and not have the lift touch the fender or fairing under the headlight.

I'm partial to the K&L front stand. It works on all the motorcycles I own...well not the '83 Riva...

www.klsupply.com 37-8374 Used this on my race bikes at the track to put on tire warmers, change tires, take off forks...etc

I bought it locally from Torpedo 7, had to get a different sized lifting pin to fit the VTR, but it makes no contact with the fairing. I'm sure this is made in China somewhere.

I have had a pin style for eons.

It came with a variety of pins and so far touch wood it has worked on a wide variety of bikes.

I am sacred of the stands that go under the fork legs. I have witnessed a few "Clamities" with them however, Hey Ho.

Pin type for me.

Thanks!! May have to look into this. Yea I’m sure it is but if it works I can’t really knock it lol

What lift pin did you have to get? Dimension/size maybe?

I like that it doesn’t make any contact with the nose fairing and I agree it is probably the best option as it allows for full front-end work. 👍🏻👍🏻

The one I use came with a pack of about half dozen different size pins. I'll look today and see if it has a brand name on it.

Take a look at this.

I made a copy from plans here. Did a couple of changes, improvements I think.

The Abba stuff is nice, but darn pricey delivered to the US

Sounds good, fortunately my best friends dad works at one of the local dealers so I can probably get the pin I’d need but the size info would definitely be helpful!!

Yeah it is!! I’ve looked at their stuff and is pretty slick but I’d have to start moon-lighting to afford it hahaha

I had to improvise a pin using a 17mm ½" socket

Just remember to put a towel on the front mudguard/fender to avaoid scratches

Silicone hot pad or mouse pad works well and "sticks" to the fender

That stand looks identical to the one I have Wicky, barring the colour (yours is definitely faster).

As Wicky pictured, I have to use a 17mm (deep well in my case)socket. The outter diameter of that mic’d 23.32mm. Biggest pin we have is an 18. But one of the pins fit nicely in the socket so it’s tight.

Make a pin?

I bought my pitbull used with one pin....that fits nothing...lol... so just make a new pin every time I need to lift something new. mounted a piece of 2x6 with angled holes for pins and sleeves on the wall. to store them.
Pins or sleeves for the basic pin sizes are pretty cheap, or at least from Pitbull they are..

Dont need a lathe, to make pins, some bar stock and a grinder could do it easy enough.

Or, use a socket I guess...lol, just cant do it myself.

Good info to know! The socket option is good for in a pinch as well!! Keep that one in my back pocket lol

Sounds simple enough really 👍🏻👍🏻 Gives me a good reason to buy tools too 😁

I just tried this trick on mine. Works better than anything else I ever improvised. Thanks for sharing this tip!

Just piggybacking this thread because it's still recent. Wondering if anyone has any insight on Venom motorcycle front & back paddocks. I'm sure they're just cheaply made Chinesium, but does anyone have any experience with fitment - apparently this set is VTR1000 specced and for $150 to do one front/back wheeljob...

They work, they are not as rigid as Pit bull stands, Id not trust them with a rider on the bike but they work
