frame/swingarm sliders
Hey all. I asked this question a week or two ago and got some "clever" responses.
I'm wondering what my fellow Hawk owners would recommend for sliders. I know LSL has frame sliders, but I didn't see any swingarm sliders for our trusty VTR. Does anyone feel they're really necessary or are frame sliders adequate? Is there a particular manufacturer that makes both??? Thanks for your responses! |

not sure about the need of the SA sliders but soon after buying my 98 SH I put on a set of LP sliders(delrin)
made for an F4i, you just need to hit up your local shop for one longer bolt & I still have all the orig bodywork 17k new york city miles later ( with a few downs & one highside) |
I am running Swingarm and front fork sliders on my Street Tard CRF450R and nothing on the VTR.
The reason you see alot o sliders on Super moto type bikes is they have less faring and gas tank to keep them up off of the ground and it is very easy yo gring down the swingarm and front lower forks on a SM. I run the type that go thru the front and rear hollow axles. You can also make a pretty trick setup using smaller Skate board wheels and a threaded rod thru the center of the axle assuming the axle is hollow. |
smokinjoe73,,, did you have to cut the fairing? Your statement of "all the orig bodywork" sounds either like you didn't cut or you bought another set.

yes, a small but sano hole saw circle, the "original fairing" meant I have not had to replace one factory piece even through the aforementioned mileage and crashes, they all survived unbroken (slight rash of course) but even a stunt cage wont totally eliminate that risk.......
