Fork Stand Styles, which is best?

What style of front stand does everyone use? 2-prong cradle? Pegs in the holes? triple tree? Anyone ever try any cheapo stand that didn't suck? I'm looking to buy another front stand and wanted to hear what you all had to say with regards to superhawk compatibility and experience. I'm hoping to hear that the $40 front stands will work if you're careful kind of thing...

Thanks for the input yall!

The most versatile is the type that lifts from the steering head.
I made one of these and it has worked very well. lifts rear and with a small jack under the oil pan the front will raise with both wheels off the ground.www.vtr1000.org ? Search
There is another thread about this stand on the site if you look.

Not to thread jack, but.... Wicky how do you like that screen and can I ask how tall you are? I've got to do something with mine as the blast hits me right at the bottom of the helmet.

xeris - Average height 5' 10" - It was the very first mod I did even before naughty rorty cans :-) On my test ride I noticed the standard low screen wasn't doing it for me as it was directing windblast awkwardly. So one flip screen and 15 years later still a happy bunny. Makes 90mph+ touring a breeze with a slight tuck in, and anything below with a normal riding posture you don't notice any buffeting. Highly recommended.

I bought a pair almost exactly like these and have been using them for over 5 years now. Pretty much bullet proof and aren't going to fail any time soon.

Black Widow uses a SuperHawk in the ads, just sayin'! :)

I have one of these.

The question of which stand to use is a personal one.

To me it comes down to this: How much is your bike worth to you and what would it cost you if the bike fell off the stand?

For me I use a Pitbull.... a bit pricey but I know the bike will never fall off and that the stand will never fail.

That peace of mind is worth the extra $$ to me.

Will the cheap stands work, sure but I wouldn't pick my bike up with one.

For sure the ones that lift from the bottom of the fork are very inferior. Sorry to be opinionated but have owned both and garage with over 200 other bikers and the ones that support from the lower fork legs are a disaster waiting to happen.

I have seen dozens of bikes fall off those things. Usually with unhappy results. (what good could come out of it?)

You can get a cheap top tube stand that will outperform the other type.

Its a simple job so get a simple tool. All the rest is just bling to impress your teenage friends.

The one wicky shows is perfect. Have several and swear by them for the past 17yrs.

I am ready to give one to my garagemate since he has a fall off on his fork bottom one several times per race weekend.
