First real sh ride....
 

And I have to say, impressed! I bought my 04 sh used, so really don't know what has been done to it other than what I can see, scotts damper, gp shifter and jardine high mts. I rode it back and forth to work for a week b4 really letting it hang out. This weekend I took it out with some friends, one riding a 06 ZZR 600 and the other a 06 GSXR 1000. We took off on our ride, which we were very familiar with, including slow sweeping turns and tight, left/right sets. I was impressed with how the SH kept up with the gxxr until about 135-140 on the straights. He would get about 100 ft on me thru the straights, but once in the turns, I would easily pass and leave him mainly since he is not as comfy in the twisties. Someone stated earlier that the SH was undersprung and over dampened, so I suspect maybe mine has been tinkered with a little. I weigh about 190 lbs and was VERY comfortable conering in excess of 100 mph in fairly tight turns with bumps and rough spots. Needlses to say, my friends were impressed with the hawks ability to hang and even run away from in the corners, two bikes making more horse power and weighing less.

I rode mine for the first time yesterdy also. I can't compare to any other sportbikes because this is my first. Regardless to say, I wound up dropping it at about 3 miles per hour. I need lowering links. So I got a new clutch lever and looking for the links but I think I will try again today if the weather holds up!

EBAY. You can usually find links for just about any bike. Cost about 15 to 20 dollars for most.

i dont know if anyone makes links for the superhawk.

Yes a company in Canada makes them but they are not 15 - 20 bucks more like 300. They list only to 01 VTR 1000 but I called and they fit all years

Holy crap! 300 bucks? My mechanic shaved off some of the shims off the rear shock... so now it feels like i'm just riding on the spring. Kinda uncomoftable. I'm pretty short, and am going to have to save up for this lowering link. Are there any other options for lowering the rear shock?

holly crap is right. I will have to look at my links. I bought some off ebay for my old sv 650, raising links, not lowerin. They were 12 bucks plus shipping. They were only 10mm shorter to raise the bike 1". I will look at my hawk to see how easily made they are. I work in an aerospace machine shop and have access to many cnc mills and lathes. Plus I am the material buyer.:D

So I looked at it and as long as the triangular plates that connect the shock to the pivot arm are what can raise and lower, those are easy to make. What I don't know is how much to decrease the height of the plate to lower the bike 1". The other worry is at what point does it create binding, if any. On my sv, 10mm = 1". I will have to look at it some more this weekend and do some calculations. I will also look at simply re fabricatiog the upper shock mount to see if I can get an inch out of it.

In the mean time, what is your rear shock set at as far as spring preload and how much "sag" is there. Crank it all the way down if it isn't already. that will give you a slightly lower seat.

yes, she was fine we went home and she rode the CB750 for a while that day. She wanted to get back on the horse thing. oh the bike was ok except the little nub under the peg broke off
