Few genneral questions ??

1. The last (also my first) time i canged my oil I used this oil: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...etico-Oil.aspx A guy at a local shop said it would work fine, and I though nothing more of it.. But now (2,500 miles later) I realized it was an API SJ grade... maual recomends API grade SE, SF, or SG.. I have no idea what that means.. But was this a big mistake, or just dont keep using it, or that oil is fine.. kinda makes my head spin, so please help..

2. I am going to shortin a pair yoshi's to get rid of some scapes and dings, have to take at lease 4 inches off..I dont care about it beening to loud..So my question is how much is everyone taking off their pipes??

3. Finnaly, I remember reading on here that if you put on a high flow air filter (BMC) you will definatly have to jet your bike, is that true?? I relly dont want to deal w/ jetting, So if thats the case I guess I'll put the HiFloFiltro stock-style filter I have layin arround..

1. The oil should be fine, If you are worried, use another the next change... The chance that you would do permanent damage is almost non-existant...

2. Dunno... I don't do blingy/stupid stuff like that...:D

3. As you are going to change the resistance severely with the shortened pipes, you are already going to need a re-jet to be close to optimal settings so why worry?!

1. If I recall correctly the SE, SF, SG and SJ, refer to the quality standards that the oil is produced to. SJ supercedes SG, so it is generally accepted that you can use it in the system.

It's akin to being able to use DOT 4 brake fluid in a DOT 3 system.

2. Most are shortening between 4 and 8 inches.

3. Like Tweety said, if your shortening the cans, you'll already need to re-jet. Do a search on jetting, and you'll see why others have rejetted.

3. Well my bike came with de-baffled pipes, then i put on a 2-1 and it has always run great (I'm sure it could be better though).. The 1st owner might have jetted it, but i highly doubt it.. I guess if it needs it I'll just put on a Flo-Commander.. It sounds like I would like that better than a regular jet-kit, because I'll probably be going back and forth between exhuast systems...

give me a call...i have shortened my remus exhaust (i have my bike back now you can stop over and take a look) and i have a guy in sylvania that works out of his house that does exceptional work quickly and he's pretty cheap. i shortened my pipes just because and installed a bmc race filter along with f4i master/calipers and vfr bars and a gear down. you're more then welcome to take it for a spin it absolutely rips after the guy jetted it. i did notice some backfiring when you left my driveway.

pm me if you need my number.
