Ethanol is bad for bikes, and it's getting worse.

Thanks! sent mine in.. My jet ski's hated even the E10 fuel.. Took me forever to find a fuel station near the lake that sold 100% gasoline.. of course due to regs they no longer do and have had to move to E10.. I was more than happy to pay the extra price for real gas. Ethanol and 2 stroke oil don't mix well

Good find.

I'm sure most of you know this but there might be one or two that could benifit. If non-e fuel is delivered from the same pump as e-10 (or e-15), then your first half gallon is whatever the person before you used. There could be any grade and ethonal contain still in the line until it is flushed out by pumping. This is the unfortunate truth by me. Not to mention there is only premium non- ethanol fuel in most stops. It's a 20 mile ride one direction to get a true non ethanol pump with different grades. Not that I mind taking the ride but damn, by the time I get back I have to refuel again.

Same here. All of them are so far out of my way that if ethanol free were absolutely required for my bike then it would cease to be a commuter. |

That reminds me, I have been meaning to post this.
I think I posted the article of how easy it is to remove ethanol. Its hygroscopic so you pretty much ad 2% water, shake, then 1.5hrs later drain the water/ethanol out the bottom. (you used a valved upsidedown gascan right). |
Is there a bigger picture of that article, joe? I would be very interested in experimenting with this!

Photo bucket is better. I wll find the full procedural article. BTW, this mag is by far the best, most informative motomag out there. No advertisments mean they can tell the truth. Pricier but worth it.

Ok, this seems to be the most concise info about ethanol removal.

The good thing is that legislation in canada is worded to the effect that all gas offered has to have at least x% etoh combined or something like that so most of the stations distribute the x percent in the low and mid grade and leave the premium etoh free! Lost of places to find pure gas here in Alberta.

you can also go with aviation gas iirc

av gas is pretty pricey. Many small prop planes convert their egines to run on ethanol mixed car gas just for the price savings.

I use ave gas 100LL to winterize my bikes. The ones that are in long term storage are also filled with 100LL. You can leave it without the worry of problems later. Stabilizer is only good for so long anyway even with non ethanol fuel.

Did all you guys get the return email? I have no idea if our Wisconsin guy signed it or not. I hate politics and politicians and have no clue what happened.
