dropped my bike

so i dropped my bike, i was going down my steep driveway and hit my rear brakes and it locked up. I managed to completly stop the bike before it fell over, minor damage the right front factory turn signal took 95% of the damage which is good because I have a few spares. however now it wont start  cranks over but no start. any ideas

thanks

Check to see if you bumped the kill switch to off.

Kickstand switch, clutch switch, kill switch.

Check the easy stuff first.

also when i got the bike pushed back into the garage i noticed no oil was in the sight glass window even after sitting for 20 min or so

lazn 08-31-2011 10:52 AM

tilt the bike vertical to check oil.

BlackHawkCBR 08-31-2011 10:57 AM

yea i did have it standing vertical while i looked

Wicky 08-31-2011 11:01 AM

What was the level before it fell over?

in the middle between the top line and bottom line

HAve you cracked a cover and is there a puddle somewhere

Or if it tipped arse over tit then is there any oil in the airbox

BlackHawkCBR 08-31-2011 11:47 AM

no the bike was stopped at it was actually a real slow gentle fall onto the right side no crackes that i saw, no oil drips or puddles

Wicky 08-31-2011 11:55 AM

See what it's like tomorrow cos it don't just disappear

BlackHawkCBR 08-31-2011 12:03 PM

sounds like time for a rebuild. Mine at 27k still uses none.

Hell at 85k mine might use some oil from time to time..... but that is usually when I've been in the top 25% of the rev range and that is to be expected from a big twin.

Under "normal" riding conditions mine still doesn't burn any oil.... ;)

bass4dude 08-31-2011 03:16 PM

did ya flood the carbs? :)

I did the same thing on my VF1000F, and after I drained the bowls of all the excess fuel, she started right up.

BlackHawkCBR 09-01-2011 10:10 AM

yea all i needed was to sit for the day is was at work, i got home and she fired right up. just needed the time. were all good
