cluster weight

I am in the process of getting a Graves racing (aluminum) fairing stay for my VTR and, as this unit is not made to accept the OEM gauges, I will likely have to do a bit of fabbing to get everything to fit. MY thought, then, if I have to fab anyhow, why not fab to fit a lighter instrument pod (stock cluster seems bulky compared to more modern bikes). I saw a few (like Tweety and Kai Ju, for example) are running clusters from CBR1000RR or 929.... Anyone know what the weight differences are?

cheers

The weight of the CBR unit is about the same as the stock unit... The difference is so small it's inconsequential... But you get more useful information...

Just curious, if you have to modify the Graves piece, why not just make one from scratch?

Thanks Markus. Maybe the stock gauges will stay then. BTW, thanks, you just saved me money (contrary to what you usually do, lol)

As for the Greg's question, I am not a welder and am getting the Graves unit for a good price. I can probably get by with the small mods needed for the stock gauges (the race stay is said to be set up for a tach only).
