Chain rub with rear spacer
Does anyone else who runs shock spacers and or longer shocks have issues with the chain rubbing the exhaust under it? I may have too much ride ht but have had this issue on & off.
I recently replace the header with a used one so not sure if its out of true. |
It doesn't take mine much slack to rub the D&D's, no spacer though.

Honda must've had an issue with it right off the bat because they put the "relief" in the left midpipe I often see mistakenly advertised as a "dent" when people are selling the stock pipes. Quite a few/most aftermarket midpipes don't have the chain relief and it doesn't take much for the chain to rub.
I'd probably cringe to do it myself but I'm sure you could flatten out the midpipe a tad in that spot and gain a little clearance (again Honda did it). Don't think you can see it and I'm sure has absolutely zero affect on power. |

I have TBR cans but I assume the pipe is stock. I have some thin coiled spring steel that I attached with a screw type hose clamp as a guard for the pipe. I thought the clearance issue was the result of a low side crash.

Even with aftermarket pipes the chain shouldn't rub the midpipe. I know it's been brought up here a few times over the years with those using a spacer. |
I may just take out a spacer. I think I have 2 in now but with the 190/55 mongo ducati rear tire I don't need both.
