Brought home an Italian Twin

I couldn't help myself....a 2000 Ducati 996 came home with me tonight!

53xx miles
Termignoni carbon fiber exhaust
Ferraci chip
biposto model converted to monoposto before ever leaving the dealer

damn she's purdy

previous owner (original owner) was extremely great about maintenance and storage....bike has never seen rain (and I'm sure I'll keep it that way)

That's where the different mothers come in. Your new Duc would be the equivalent of what in the surfing world is called a "wall hanger", almost too pretty to ride.

"Twin Sons of Different Mothers" was an album by Dan Fogelberg and Tim Weisberg.

mikstr Jun 25, 2010 05:49 AM

Is that the one I saw on the KC craigslist a couple days ago? If so, the pic on there didn't do it justice. She's gorgeous!

youngdrew47 Jun 25, 2010 06:17 AM

Truly one of the most beautiful bikes ever built.

Yes sir....same bike. I don't think any pictures do this thing justice....perfect condition

steve.g Jun 25, 2010 07:44 AM

Nice.... you are a lucky man.

Stevebis1 Jun 25, 2010 07:51 AM

WTF! What is up with the P.O. who obviously had more money than he knew what to do with?!? Before I found my superhawk I was looking at Ducs and found several 5+ years old with less than 5k all pristine.
Good luck on yours, She's a beauty!

divingindaytona Jun 25, 2010 01:55 PM

I would love to hear a ride comparison between the two.

One time I brought home an Italian twin. Oh wait, that's a different story...

CANADAVTR Jun 25, 2010 06:11 PM

Flippin stunning! Good for you! I want one - so I've now got the wife's Dodge Caravan for sale - just don't tell her....

Those would NOT be wall hangers!

98ILVTR Jun 25, 2010 07:36 PM

Just something about the 996 sucks me in. If you don't mind me asking; what did you pick it up for? ($)

toy4xchris Jun 25, 2010 08:16 PM

Man I envy you I always loved the duc 996 that is such a beautiful bike. I look forward to the day when I could get myself a beautiful Ducati. Keep her sexy my friend.

L8RGYZ Jun 25, 2010 08:17 PM

Beautiful classic bike. Good thing it doesn't belong to me cuz I would just run it into the ground. In ten years it would have been used up, the left over scraps parted out and become a fading passionate memory.

nuhawk Jun 25, 2010 08:21 PM

What a great score! Shortly after I bought my Superhawk I realized Ducati had one too. Short read is the fairing is full - little more forward cone but a Superhawk by any other name. Great machine, great body work, and a powerhouse vtwin. Anybody that writes to a Superhawk forum and wants Nava fairings - needs to buy a Ducati. Congrats on the snare.

One word, Awesome

You are missing the point... It's a bike... If I owned it, it would get flogged like any other bike... The guys in Bologna intended it that way...;)

happytrack44 Jun 26, 2010 05:06 AM

I'm going to have to confiscate this for testing.

swaptrex Jun 26, 2010 04:30 PM

+1 on just about every thing you all have said.

59burst Jun 27, 2010 10:18 AM

Nice clean example of pure sex on wheels. Don't forget your belt maintenance.
