Blipping the throttle
9 out of 10 times, when I blip the throttle I get the expected rev increase. However, 1 out of 10 times, when I blip the throttle, I get a ''fart''. Like a ''poof'' sound and then nothing happens, no rev increase.
Anybody have a clue as to what this can be. The bike is new (to me) and I barley put 1000 km on it. The bike is a '98 and had 35K on the clock. Thanks M |
Search for 'fart' ;-)

Haha...my transition from inline four to v twin has not been a great one unfortunately. Difficulties with blipping the throttle and handlebar / foot peg vibration are making me question if a twin is really for me.

Carb farts fo sho. Lol!
Nice ava!!! |
If you did a search it's quite common for the carbs on the VTR to fart occasionally - you can lessen the occurance by balancing carbs, setting the TPS and making sure idle is set at around 1200 so it doesn't readilly stall during low speed corners. Considering these are the largest carbs on a production bike they do a very good job of converting fuel into big grins.
Stick with it and ride the torque while playing tunes on the musical throbbing pipes! |
Why blip? Plugs loading up? I don't blip and never fart

That is how I learned to ride and have always done it when downshifting. Matching the revs for a smooth transition to the lower gear.
like has been said, its just something that comes with BIG carbs. but shouldnt be the "norm" tps, idle, and balancing will help a lot. also if they are dirty, a good cleaning will help. also make sure your jetting is correct. |
