I have a special place in the dry wash behind my house for thieves.

Don't understand why someone would take a pristine condition bike and try to destroy it!!!

Or maybe I just don't understand their idea for mods and upgrades. They used a wrench from the tool kit as a rear brake handle. Every fairing is broken, mirrors are gone and sawed the tail off with what looks like a sawsall

Some people like to keep things OEM.

I think I'm with Jack Flash on this one. I think I'd rather remember it like it was than ever get it back like this. I think this is more painful.

Sorry, don't mean to rub it in.

My excitement in getting it back was greatly dampened by the way they trashed it. It's how you generally feel after someone breaks into your house. I apologized to my bike and stripped everything off. Before I started any restoration, I made sure it ran after changing the oil. The more I work on it, the better I feel about it. Once every reminate of their print is gone, I think I will feel better. It's a really an emotional feeling after all the work I put into getting it pristine, and all the work of keeping it that way!

Sounds like your head is in the right place. If you need any parts, post up. I'll help out if I can and I'm sure others will too.

One thing I need is the tail part that holds the license plate and stock turn signals. Lots of people seem to eliminate it, but I like the look of the stock tailpiece.

It really hurt to see the before and after photos. I'm sure similar to the way I felt after my VTR was totaled. Check my posts! Hang in there and she will be re-born again with your obvious love and care....
