Biggest VTR complaint?

We needed a new poll...

What is the biggest complaint with the Superhawk for everyone? Feel free to add anything I left out.

hawxter996 Mar 11, 2008 05:04 PM

its apart in my basement!

SlowHAWK Mar 11, 2008 05:27 PM

I went with fuel range although I'd love to have the Hawk 50 LBS less.

MarineHawk Mar 11, 2008 05:28 PM

Definitely the fuel range, everything else can be fixed or found without as much trouble as upgrading the tank.

Hawk9807 Mar 11, 2008 05:32 PM

+1 on the fuel range.

joshuatest Mar 11, 2008 05:51 PM

ITS FUCKING WINTER

GeMs Mar 11, 2008 07:15 PM

When riding to Maine from CT and having to stop every 130 miles, although its a nice rest on the buttocks. Im more of a straight shot, lets get there already kinda person.

Thumper Mar 11, 2008 07:53 PM

Suspension, I am in the hills of the south, we ride kick ass curvy mountain roads and 80 to 100 miles of that always leads to a quick fuel stop and chit chat with your riding buddies. Heck my CRF450R Street Legal SuperMoto will go no more than 80 miles on a tank (no reserve) and it is never an issue when i am out riding it with the sportbikes.

Fuel capacity is fine by me. I would much rather have a well tuned Carb. bike over a FI bike any day.

KindredGhost Mar 11, 2008 08:25 PM

I went with fuel injection... that was a VERY close tie to fuel range.

superbling Mar 11, 2008 08:46 PM

Fuel range first. But I fixed that.

Suspension a close second but I fixed that too.

PHxS Mar 11, 2008 08:56 PM

I'm going with injection, because it is already a planned project for later this year. Hoping to find some extra miles per gallon in there.

Heck, i've already started to buying some parts. Should get interesting as i do have access to a SuperFlow Dyno as bikes are my current job.

I got 140-150 miles on 2 rides, but only leaned on it hard less than 10 miles each trip. come on warm weather.

L8RGYZ Mar 11, 2008 09:23 PM

That I only have one!

RK1 Mar 12, 2008 03:41 AM

Fuel range is winning? Imagine you've got a bone stock VTR and you win a contest.

Your choice of;

1) A free revalve and springs for the front and a free Ohlins for the rear.

or

2) A one gallon larger fuel tank?

Cleveland Mar 12, 2008 04:29 AM

I'm a heavier rider (hover @ 200), so the rear is sprung pretty well for me.. especially if I have baggage.. I'm no MototGP wanna be Knee dragger... Havent been on a long trip with it, yet.. so the mileage isnt so much an issue.. The carbs spitting at me when it's cold out, or the bike is cold.. or just sputtering out at a light bothers me.. SO, with that... I will vote Fuel Injection.

I expect to see a detailed write up about it then....

Bocker Mar 12, 2008 06:08 AM

I had to go with fuel range. My real choice would have been a cable clutch, but I hate having the light go on every 130 miles, too.

RickB Mar 12, 2008 06:35 AM

In this case I would certainly go for the suspension upgrades - would be silly not to!!! :D

Better fuel range is my biggest gripe, I guess I was spoiled with my '92 Nighthawk 750, nearly 200 miles between fillups and you still had 1.1 gal in reserve at that point...

Well, looks like I'm the only one that went with weight....

-Fuel injection would be nice, although as long as you know how to tune a carb, and don't mind doing it, you should be fine. Besides, the sputtering gives it character.
-I admit I too almost went with fuel range, however I ride mostly in new england, where you can usually see a gas station from any point you are looking.
-I find the suspension pretty comfortable, I don't do too much aggresive riding, just bought this thing to enjoy it!
-I just wish the bike were slightly lighter, so I could flick it more readily if required. I don't weight very much (140), and seem to find myself wrestling with the bird sometimes, haha. The weight is the only factor in me actually considering selling my beloved bike, as my girlfriend wants to start riding with me this season and safety is first.

divingindaytona Mar 12, 2008 07:08 AM

not suprized

Gee fuel range is winning! I am not suprized at all.

The suspension seems to become overworked quickly, but how often do you ride at 8/10th on the street.

Fuel injection - the carbs in stock form do a good job - you tune the carbs and any of the problems are gone

In all of the magazine reviews that I have read the fuel econemy seems to be the only complaint.

After living with the shawk from 2003 this is still really my only complaint.

FL02SupaHawk996 Mar 12, 2008 08:21 AM

I went with fuel range...bearly get 110 miles outta tank, but it's probably due mostly to my wrist rage...sometimes it's nice to just go off by yourself and scream!:gatlin::boom:

trinity012 Mar 12, 2008 08:38 AM

Hi all, my complains about VTR: weight even w/all the diets, dismal gas range, SRAD

Prilliant03 Mar 12, 2008 09:39 AM

Fuel tank range really is my only issue with this bike. I have no problem with well set up carbs, and the weight really isn't an issue for me. Neither is the suspension as I'm hardly a budding Casey Stoner.

But I use my bike forvcommuting as well as weekend fun rides and I'm getting a little pissed off with the light coming on at a mere 70 miles. I do get between100-110 in normal use, but even that seems pretty poor for what is not a cutting edge superbike. It seems to be a strange fault in such an otherwise great all round bike.

I still love it of course :p

lazn Mar 12, 2008 10:15 AM

I went w fuel range for the simple fact there are places around here I can't go unless I were to strap a jerry can to where I'd rather have a cute passenger of the female persuasion sitting.

Tweety Mar 12, 2008 11:20 AM

Lack of fuel injection? Nope... I like my carbs...:)
Weight? Nah... it's heavier than a supersports... but not that much...and as I'm 6'3" @ 200'ish pounds I have no trouble manouvering it...
As for parts... I use em from all other Hondas so that about covers it...:)

As for suspension & brakes... nope no problems... I already fixed those...:D

So I'll go with fuelrange...:)

superhawk22 Mar 12, 2008 12:54 PM

I went with weight, it would be a little easier to throw around the track if it didn't weigh as much plus less weight = more power! ;)

Thanks, I thought I was alone with that one.

RCVTR Mar 12, 2008 01:26 PM

I never thought the weight was a problem. Steeper head angle made it feel lighter.
Never thought fuel range was a problem. We all stopped for gas at the same time.

complaints:
Too tempting to work on. Didn't get enough other stuff done around the house.

#1 complaint:
I don't have one any more!!! F@#%^

smack doogle Mar 12, 2008 02:08 PM

I voted FI but that's only cause I've rode my SH about 30 miles since I've bought it and have no experience with the fuel range.
