Best Throttle lock?
Hey guys looking for your recommendation for the best throttle lock for our VTR's
Looking to do some mileage. Thanks in advance |
I use this one and like it very much. Have used it for several hundred thousand miles. I have friends with those wacky throttlemeister bar ends.
I rode them and actually believe them dangerous as you have to put force on the end of the bar for them to work and this is dangerous at high speeds. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/ZZ50...1-3006469FE29A |
I second Joe's opinion except I prefer the Vista Cruise implementation. The Vista Cruise model MCVICO fits the SuperHawk.
I've had at least one owner of a Throttlemeister tell me they didn't care for it due to the way it functioned. |
Vista Cruise is what I selected... Many years worth of use

Thanks guys! I'm glad Vista Cruise makes a model compatible with our bikes... I have many miles on my 1981 Yamaha XV920RH which I put a Vista Cruise throttle lock on when I bought back in '81.

Go Cruise works well and is cheap and cheerful.

Amazon.com: Go Cruise Ease Stress on Your Throttle 1 Inch Handlebars: Automotive I ordered a Vista Cruise throttle lock after seeing this thread. It just arrived and I installed today. It looks like part of the bike, like i belongs there. Not out of place and goofy looking. I really like the simplicity. Works very well and uses friction to lock the throttle, which can be overcome easily in case of emergency. My only gripe, is that there is a little foot that comes off the bottom of the throttle lock, and this foot fits between the two throttle cables. This is what keeps the throttle lock from rotating when you twist the throttle. However, I removed my push cable, so I found my old push cable, cut the little nut off and installed it. No more issues. |
Guess I should have mentioned that, knowing some of you danger seekers have removed your push cables. No push cable and a throttle lock. Might as well just drink some hemlock.
Say, that reminds me of one of my favorite jokes. What were Socrates's last words? |

Say, that reminds me of one of my favorite jokes. What were Socrates's last words? Ok, that was a lie.... I've actually NEVER seen or known a rider in 38 years that has had a stuck throttle.. Could be I don't own or ride with people that own clapped out crap bikes.. nor any of my customers or the people they know.... Ya that could exsplane my lack of fucks given about a throttle return cable vs somes exuberance in claiming "Ya'll gon die" :p |

Gee, just being a troll, yes thats better....oh wait  |
Just making a joke. After all, I was the one who gave the Vista Cruise part number above. It was a calculated risk - exposing myself to a lawsuit when one of you suicidal types balls it up with a "stuck throttle" using one of these things - but, a risk I'm willing to take to help some random guy on the interweb. Help him kill himself.

Well I don't know the definition of a throttle lock, and have not used one. But a friend uses the little plastic thing that I posted above on his new Super Duke and loves it. So simple, it makes some other products look silly.
It does take up a little space of the grip. Here is another link: http://www.2wheelride.com/throttle_pro.html Check out the video. Haaa! |
