Back from the Dragon

Just got back from Deals Gap for the 3rd annual trip. Awesome weather, amazing roads, and good friends. Does motorcycling get any better!

Little vid from a run.

If you've never been there, google it. 11 miles, 318 curves...

what day was this ride on.theres a website that will show you pics of yourself on certain corners.

jaypo Oct 10, 2011 05:15 PM

Yeah it takes them a few days to post up. This was yesterday. US129 Photos - highest quality photos from Tail of the Dragon - Deals Gap usually has the best ones. Or killboy.

Jaypo, Were you on the dragon Sunday? If So, I may have passed you ... The wife and I rode across the dragon, on the way to Gatlinburg TN... Rode back from there back to Asheville today...
Swweet carving the road....

interesting that you put your index finger on the clutch lever. I do the same thing.

Looks like there was quite a bit of traffic. Were the LEOs bad?

jaypo Oct 15, 2011 08:08 PM

LEO's weren't bad at all on the TN side. Saw a couple on the nc side on the skyway. Also saw several accidents. TDOT just dug trenches next to the road so lots of dirt in a couple corners. One of the new guys in the group took a spill on our last ride. Check us129photos site for October 9th and look at the crash photos. Blue sv650. He was alright and had full gear thankfully.

If you wanna see me in "pucker" mode check this line of pics as I'm coming in full bore and notice all the dirt and gravel in the corner (same corner our buddy dumped in). I quickly lifted the knee and began getting it straight. Last pic you can see all the trash coming off my tire.

Very cool! A few shots from the ground and an aerial helicopter cam and you have a pro vid there. :D:D j/k

Thumper Oct 23, 2011 06:11 PM

I just got back last night from two days on Deals Gap. 300 plus miles from store to overlook. Didn't even go anywhere else.

And no Leo either day, awesome.....

Law Enforcement Officers...;)

nath981 Oct 24, 2011 04:54 AM

jaypo that road sucks. No hidden driveways over hills and on blind corners, no Amish wagon shit spewing horses, no pot holes or shiny tar pucker strips, no cagers movin over on you as they shoot you the bird when you scoot by em on double yellow, no two-story tractors dragging muddy field dirt out on a curve, and no friendly neighbors spraying their grass all over the road like their icing a freakin cake.

great riding on an awesome road....... enjoyed the video coverage. thanks

OK thanks.

Due to my broadcast engineering background I was previously scratching my head wondering why anyone was concerned about Low Earth Orbit satellites while riding a twisty road...

Old Yeller Oct 24, 2011 11:21 AM

Well, it's pretty high up in the mountains for the east coast.

:rotf::rotf::rotf:
