Anyone have a radar detector mounted?
Anyone done this on their Superhawk? I use Waze on my helmet radio but I need all the protection I can get as I commute on this half the time.
I have an escort passport, a Cobra Roadscout (which includes a dash camera), and a Valentine 1 at my disposal. I really don't want to mount on the helmet, I'd have to spend even more on a cordless one that aren't as good. I can fit them under the windscreen but they block most of my gages. There's very little room that clears the bars, plus my clipons have a 1" rise to them. Next option is a custom bracket that mounts to the mirror bracket outside the fairing.. Or maybe hide the detector somewhere and just wire up the little cig plug accessory in front to alert me with its blinking lights... not sure if I'll hear it. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...5f27d56e5d.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...0032e18dfb.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...227a4d1470.jpg |

DanMoto 3D Clip-Ons https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...48b44a2200.jpg Yamaha R1 Mirrors with extenders between grafted VTR OEM mirror mounts I run RD hard wired in/on ALL my vehicles, have so for 25+ years going back to the original Fuzz Buster. I have a ZG DB screen and use the RD OEM suction mount though stabilized with a foam damping block Velcro'd in place. Yes it partially blocks the tacho in the upper range but so what, if you need to see revs at that road speed you'll get yourself in trouble taking your eyes off the road. Anyway, I bought my 98 new and know what its doing just by sound and feel. BTW, I have reduced draw on the alternator by installing a Mosfet VR-R, converted ALL lighting including the headlight to LED, and have 5 different power sources for SAE, Coaxial & USB powered devices. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...d914983ddc.jpg Missing from view is the heated grip switch on the left bar and steering stem mount for a cell phone or GPS which has hard-wired power built into the mount for Micro-USB or Mini-USB, https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...e525c63ad9.jpg Up in my local twisties for a pitstop at Backyard Bikes - General Store on H in La Grange, WI south of Palmyra https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...64ff5d2582.jpg I have a few miles on my 98 I bought new... https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...19ea61867c.jpg It still gets up and goes and is sneaky fast and stops and turns like a dream, just my body can't keep up besides higher bars, lower pegs and a custom saddle :-( |
I have been using a detector on the bike for a number of years. It has save me many, many times.
I'm using a stem mount from https://adaptivtech.com/collections/...nt-accessories This device moves the alert to your peripheral vision so you'll know when you're being illuminated. https://www.legalspeeding.com/HARD-S...m#.XbO6AmZ7m00 Something like this to get power to the detector https://www.radarbusters.com/Direct-...-wire-cord.htm or this https://www.buyradardetectors.com/es....html?___SID=U The zip ties were temporary as I worked out how to attache the detector to the mount. Ended up using super strength Velcro. Also moved the sending unit to the vertical portion of the mount. After the fork swap the nut on the top of the steering stem no longer fit so I found a fitting that I adapted to fit into the stem, similar to the Ram Mount stem mount. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...1ae27f89d8.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...1ffb949a15.jpgReceiver Receiver mounted in the cheek pad. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...fdff52dfca.jpg Cut a bit of foam to get enough space for the receiver. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...0adbc8208e.jpg |
