why did honda not put spool bosses on the swing arm???
dropped my bike off the stand tonight. never did that before because all my suzukis have had swing arm bosses for spools. too bad honda wasn't courteous enough to put them on the vtr! needless to say i am super pissed off right now.
also, it could have been much worse. my gixxer, that hasn't got a scratch, was right beside the vtr. it was a near miss. maybe 3 inches.
silver lining: the bike had been dropped before by the previous owner. it had little scratches. no real extra damage was done tonight, broken clutch lever. i'll check further tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about the drop.
How did it fall? Did it slide off the rear stand pads?
I know you can get swingarm spool adapters (http://www.pit-bull.com/Merchant2/me...ode=spool_kits) for your swingarm. That's what I did for my shawk. Weld the suckers on and attach your favorite colored spools. Even if you don't use the spools, you have the adapters there to prevent the pads from sliding off the swingarm.

i was storing the bikes for the winter. did oil changes. then cleaned the chains. then washed the bikes. by that point the floor was pretty slippery. i was taking the bike off the rear stand and things just slipped away from me.
options:
-install spools somehow.
-used old stand but make sure to have front end on a stand or brakes locked
honda should have just made things easy to begin with. pathetic.

Why Honda didn't put them there is that the Superhawk got here before spools and stands were ever invented. When spools were starting to come around the Superhawk was such a small player in the market. Honda was not about to recreate the swingarm in the later years.

How are the rivnuts and swing arm holding up? Any problems with cracks in the swing arm? Rivnuts loosing up? Are you happy with the location you placed them in?
Seems like an easier solution than welding.
Cheers,
Roy
