7th gear
I am a new hawk owner and have recently completed the engine modifications so well noted in the threads.Upon purchase, the bike would not run well under 3000 rpms. Now with rejetting ,shims under the needles, front slide mods and TPS adjustment, the bike runs superstrong and will run from 1000rpm up. My question concerns the powerband. Multiple owners describe the powerband as BROAD , FLAT AND STRONG FROM IDLE TO REDLINE. However, my hawk pulls very strong from idle to 6500 to 7000, then jumps very strongly to redline. It seems the engine "hits another gear at 7000 ". Is this the NORMAL POWERBAND for this bike?

In short..... Yes.... ;)
Peak torque is around 7500 rpm and peak HP is around 8500 rpm, So yes from 7-9K rpm is where the "fun" lives...... |
Haha you hit the fun zone as previously mentioned.
|
I have a lot of fun around 10.5 ;) ;) not too much though

yep. I never found it to be a hit as much as a very strong, linear pull all the way.

I think it is all perspective. The Shawk isn't peaky like a I4, thus the broad flat and strong comments.

You mean I had a fun zone all this time and didn't know it??
