2 SuperHawks sighted, Ortega Highway

I saw 2 SuperHawks on Ortega Highway today, just before 11am. One was naked with highmounts, rider wearing a yellow helmet w/red mohawk. The other was black with highmounts and barend mirrors and was 2-up. Was it anyone here?

My wife and I were leaving the Candy Store to head back down when they passed in a group of cars. I let a gap form, then took off ahead of my wife. I tailed them and the cars to the bottom of the canyon, then I pulled off at the fire station to wait for my wife.

It sucks the way most cars won't let motorcycles go by, although some do. I had a pretty clear run up the hill today. My wife and I ride Ortega about once a week, usually on weekdays, since I retired 6 months ago.

As you well know weekdays are the only days to ride Ortega, have they finished the roadwork yet? For those of you that don't know Ortega is a double fine area (particularly on weekends!).

Yeah, I've been riding it since 1982. The roadwork was finished some months ago. The lower section of the canyon up to the Riverside County line is great now, with excellent pavement. But the cops are often out even on the weekdays now.

A week ago last Sunday a motorcyclist rear ended a car just after the right hander at the bridge east of the Candy Store. A driver had car problems and had pulled off to the side, then this idiot stopped in the middle of the road to offer assistance....motorcycle came around the blind right hander and POW. Fortunately he walked away, he refused ambulance transport. I didn't hear how his bike came out, but I'm sure he didn't ride it home.

Ortega is a great road but I rarely ride it anymore due to the traffic (even on weekdays). If you carry a quick pace, you will have to do a whole lot of passing on the double-yellow. And in the tighter (fun) sections, It's hard to do safely.

But again, great road, just overrun by commuters and big-rigs cutting across the mountains. And I hate going slow!
