Second link was spammy so I deleted it.

The "proof" watermark makes it look like he's got a blower or something mounted on it. Took me a minute to figure it out. LOL

Does my Shawk make me look fat?

LOL! I'm 6'3" 220#. Was wearing two layers under the jacket to stay warm on the skyway. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

ps. be nice to have blower.

i want a redhead this time...

Cops?

I'm going to be at the Gap in two weeks. Rumour has the cops are bad. What was it like for you?

LineArrayNut 04-22-2008 02:46 PM

go early in the week, early in the day

they've started earlier this year than ever but it was ok when i went through. seemed more in response to the squids crashing than any concerted effort. i ran through top to bottom only once about 5:30 pm sunday. no harassing license checks or penny ante bs going on then. check the cherohala skyway thread in group rides for an excellent loop. if you're gonna hang out and run it multiple times go through slow first and figure out where they're at and talk to people top and bottom as they come out. check the online resources a day or two before you go to get up to date reports.

+1 on the Skyway caution

It is a Fantastic road, but a 100 times more dangerous than the gap. Almost every turn has gaurd rails and you can easily get killed on this road. Numerous decreasing radius turns that catch new riders off guard. Some make it out alive, some do not.

I personally have had two such events with fellow riders, one totaled her SV650S and was luckier than the bike. She slid threw the gaurd rail and the bike didn't.

The other was a guy on a Buell that mis-judged the turn and crashed into the guard rail, ripped the forks clean off the bike. He also was lucky in that he was able to propel him self up and over the gaurd rail just before impact.

Be careful up there oin the Skyway.

yep, i ran much of it the day before semi-cautiously, then at"the pace" the next day. while i don't have chicken strips, i don't have to apex the corners to make them - leave plenty of error room for debris on the road like sand, rocks, leaves etc. yes, there are lots of blind corners and mean rusty guardrail with some good dropoffs. but all in all, the skyway is my choice over the gap right now. do try the loop in group rides, it was good.

Hey, Line Array Nut, are you buddies with Jim Griffin?

LineArrayNut 04-22-2008 05:43 PM

Jim and I corresponded heavily during the planning & building phase of the first iteration, back when I was in Mobile AL around 2002. But no, I would not call us buddies, although I'd not mind.

PS i grew up in Dunwoody. my mom still lives there

KillGurl

I met/saw killgurl as she passed me and then backed it into the next few corners. If it is the same chick, she can motor. She was on a KTM.

LineArrayNut 04-28-2008 09:36 AM

yep, that's her. new white pink black leathers. some cruiser crossed the line & smacked her on her CBR, totalled it i guess. messed up her wrist pretty good.
