Thumper May 24, 2009 06:31 PM

Wow, glad you are ok

Curious, how did the wheel and axle get seperated from the forks. Did someone not tighten the pinch bolts after last tire change.

Na my front tire hit a culvert, thats the main reason i got so banged up. i hit that and went over the bars

Thumper May 24, 2009 06:49 PM

Sheez i think i will leave mine parked for few days. Hope this is not like airplane accidents and comes in three's

Glad you're OK. If the forks are borked, I humbly suggest a set of CBR1000 forks w/radial brakes. And no, I'm not selling any.;)

Sorry to see you took a nasty one. You have any injuries?

lazn May 24, 2009 09:16 PM

Whoa! Glad you are still posting though!

From the sound of it I got banged up more, but my bike fared better and your bike took more damage but you weren't as banged up.

Ride safe everyone!

Well, that is like choosing between the lesser weevils...;) Personally I'd take the messed up bike... Shit can be repaired fast... body's take time... :)

My experience with VTR's is that frame is bent for sure. In fact, a very small bend the forks usually means that that steering head area is tweaked. I would be surprised if yours isn't cracked at the weld considering the extensive damage it incurred.

Bummer, glad you are ok.

Yea i was wearing gear, and yes bikes are easier to fix, although my groin is still in pain from smacking the tank at 35 mph ughh

tbartley May 25, 2009 08:22 AM

Glad to hear you're doing okay. Just remember...it could've been worse. Heal quick and get that bike back together. :)

RickB May 25, 2009 09:02 AM

Glad to hear you are OK, hope you can get that back back up and running quickly.

Haha...ha. Thanks. It does. I crashed at Road Atlanta on Saturday. Minor low side on cold tires/pavement and was able to get back out for the rest of the weekend.

reaper May 25, 2009 11:13 AM

I had a similar crash 2 years ago. Failed to negotiate a turn, riding above my skill level and into a culvert, barely missing a tree in the process. Bike looked like yours. Healed up, rebuilt her and went back to square one about proper riding technique.

Glad its scrape, bruises and sore balls and nothing worse.

Good luck.

L8RGYZ May 25, 2009 11:43 AM

Krrrunch! Dat don't look good.

Glad you're ok.

Glad your ok!......................Everyone, Please be careful out there, know your limits. Crashed bikes and bodies.......no good.

lowell May 25, 2009 08:40 PM

Me went down also

Make me number 3.

Low side sand in a downhill Left and right. approx 30mph

NO broken parts on the bike and I was in full gear and popped up and tossed the glove at the bike. (no hurts)

Left fairing panel is scrapped.
T Rex frame slider is toast and saved the bike

Aftermarket LED blinker is working but needs replacement.

Rode the bike the rest of the weekend for 1k miles.
