Forum Suggestions

I've been a member of http://www.vfrdiscussion.com for the past year and a half, and a member here long before that. During my tenure with VFRD I grew accustomed to a few features that now seem hard to do without, such as...

-Classifieds are split into separate sections (Bikes, Parts & Accessories, Tools & Gear, etc..) to keep the clutter down and make it easier to find what your looking for. You can also delete your own topic once you item has sold.

-Group rides are also split up by location to make it easier to find out whats going on in your neck of the woods.

-Member galleries are viewable from public profiles.

-Random member images on homepage, along with featured post's and blogs.

Thats about all I can think of for now. I love this forum and thank you for all of the hard work you put i it! Thanks Greg!!

Daniel

I have one "simple" one.... if there was a link to the home page of the site once your in th forums, that would be helpful.. I hate having to go to my favorties or hit back 13 times to get back to the home page.

Under quick links at the top right - choose "welcome page" and you'll be back to where you want.

Ever click the Superhawk Forum.com picture in the upper left?

Edit: Oops, that just goes back to the forum list.

That's what I mean.... it would be nice if that logo just took you back to the welcome page... but then again, maybe I'm just lazy!!!

That's why I added the dropdown, as Nuhawk said. That took me a while to do. I couldn't find any way to change it to the logo, though I tried like hell.

Inderocker, I too have thought about making the classified changes. As we get more traffic I'll consider it. But for now, when all we have is one or two new posts per day I'm pretty happy with what we've got.

Re: Member galleries - this may be part of our higher security server system. Does anyone know if we used to be able to do this?

Re: Random Images/Featured Blogs - I don't have the capability to change the programming, only alter what I've got. Hopefully our new tech assist will see this and will possibly have some time to make a few small changes.

Re: Group rides - not enough to split up.

All-in-all the tech is fairly simple and low-tech...kind of like our Superhawks! :)

I would like Greg to reset his post count to something realistic. Perhaps something in the squid range. :p

I bet Greg would probably be willing to reset his post count if we offered to chip in and buy him a 5 quart jug of Mobil1 15w50.

Just ignore those first two digits. Pretend they aren't even there. Don't listen to the voices, either. They want you to do baaad things.

I have modified the templates so that clicking on the URL goes back to the home page rather than the forum listing.

Hawkrider 11-12-2007 05:49 PM

Shit, dude. You da man! How did you do it? PM me offline.

Hi
Can you please turn off the image verification on the Seach page? Searching a bit of problem on this forum ...I dont see how this can be used for spamming
Half the time I am not able to read it (even if I refresh)....its just annoying becuase all i want to do is search..
Cheers
vasaq

Hawkrider 05-09-2008 06:10 PM

I believe that if you log in then image verification is off. I'll check your settings.

Hawkrider 05-09-2008 06:13 PM

Yes, I checked and image verification is only on for guest searches.

Greg

In the meantime, how about making it possible for the poster to delete their own classified ads. This way we can reduce some of the clutter.

pigwings 06-18-2008 10:09 AM

No one allowed to ask VTR technical questions until they're introduced themselves, their bike, and other info about themselves, and know how to SEARCH.

Guess it sounds more like a rant than a suggestion, eh?

Not possible with the software. Sorry.

Thumper 06-18-2008 07:38 PM

I just set superhawkforum.com as my home browser page. Everytime i enter i am always delivered to the Home page with the most recent posts on the screen.

Simple and easy to do, always have the latests post for all categories. If i want to go back to home page i just click on the home button in the browser tool bar and i am there.

No big deal.

PS I love the page and i like RLZ as well, ohh those were hte days...
