Anyone having trouble with search?

I am looking right now for a thread on an aftermarket cooling fan. When I search "fan" I get zero matches.

I am dumb but have used search a zillion (approx) times & now cant

I just type this: "aftermarket cooling fan, superhawk forum" into goolge and get better results than trying to use the search on here. ;)

Never thougt of that...

But what was the name of that fan? Spiral, spago, a certain type of fan.

Someone remembers...

<=3 letter words aren't indexed as the the index file would bloat with all the occurrences of 'get', 'but', 'out' etc.

Use the google site search below and customise it to what you want.

I just did a few test searches. The forum search function seems to disregard any entry with less than 4 characters. I have noticed it before. Type cct, oil, fan, r/r, cam, tps. No results at all. If you enter a longer word along with a 3 letter word, you WILL get results. BUT the pages listed may not contain the short word, unless that word just happens to be on the page. The search engine simply ignores it.

This is true on some other forums as well where I have seen the search feature indicate that the 3 letter word was omitted from search results. Our forum does not seem to give that courtesy.

For this reason, I try not to use the abbreviated term when I post. Using a full word makes it easier to find later. Sucks in this case since FAN is a very useful word for us.

If you type in a commonly used word (out though with then) along with a valid search word, the engine will notify you that the common word was omitted.
