BUT, I din't sell the Hawk to get it. I've loved my SuperHawk, even before I bought it in '07. I don't think I could ever sell it....:confused::(
Anyway, I've been a huge fan of the Ducati Multistrada for quite a while. I joined a Multi forum in '09, but was pretty much a lurker. I just wasn't passionate about the 1st gen looks. I sat on one and absolutely loved its ergos, which fueled the fire. So fast forward a few years and I've been really diggin' what they've done. I found one about 1.5 hours away that was about 15oo above what I considered my budget. Emailed the guy for a couple weeks and it was good communication. Everything felt right, so I found the money (:lol:) and offered 10. He said come get it... Attachment 19948 Attachment 19949 2010 S model w/ full Termignoni exhaust and the Ducati performance chip, 18k miles. Boys, this bike is the shit. :shock: I don't think I'll ever figure out all the techno wizardry. :( |

Nice! Great engine, great riding position, great adventure bike. However, I just cant get past it having a "beak".

Beak it has. My first choice was the KTM SuperDuke GT, there just isn't any used yet. My criteria is a sport tourer that is V-Twin so that limits me. I lke the looks, and it's a hot-rod.

Ok ok... it's not perfect. The rear brake is literally useless. :mad:
Hell, I don't have any money to mod it! :confused: It'll be a while! If it breaks, it sits! BTW, the suspension on this thing is simply divine. All my troubles disappear... thumping V between my knees and Ohlins front and rear. The seating position is soooooooooo much better now. Life is good gents! Hoping my wife can ride the Super now and then. The only thing that concerns me is the seat height. Time will tell. |
The more I read about that bike, the more I like it! Why did they have to give it a beak?

I thought that when if first came out. The more I look at it, the more I like it. Looks bird of prey-ish.
Attachment 19957 Ride one. They are soo good in so many ways. Ergos are spot on. The electronic package is overwhelming but the level of customization is staggering. It's got plenty-o-power. The wife and I are planning to make a 2 hour trip to Summit Point Raceway to meet up with the guy who sold it to me. He races and invited us to the pits for the day. This may very well be the way I weasel right into convincing my wife to support me doing regular track days... |
Great choice, I always said, If you have to choose a single bike for everything, that would be the bike!!!
See if you can learn how to adjust the desmo valves yourself and change the timing belts to specs, it doe's get really expensive to give it to a Ducati tech'. |
It's on my list of things to research. I'm afraid to call the local shop to ask how much because I know I won't be able to afford it.
It took me 4 days to figure out how to change the units from C to F and litres to gallons!! |
Congrats on the ne ride! Find someone who does their own work and have them walk you through the Desmo valve adjust, it's not rocket science just a bit tedious. Buy the correct tools and you will be styling!

Timing belts coast around the $600's including labor, valve adjustments is additional similar amount, at list around here, also they do change them not only per miles, but also years, even if the bike was just standing (tendency to dry up).

Hey mate,
Don't be scared of the belts or valves. If you can do the valves on your VTR you can do them on this. I have done them on the 848 twice now ! Download a manual and take your time, check and recheck everything that you do and buy the Ducati tool to hold the cams in place when you do the belts. There is also an app that you can download to ensure that you have the tension on the belts correct acoustically! Enjoy the Duc, they are a very rewarding bike even if they are finicky to work on. |
I planned on doing belts myself but desmos, I have 2 very trustworthy and reputable Duc shops close so when the time comes for desmos, I may lean on them. We'll see.
I did DL the manual. Very helpful indeed. Fully sorted the rear brake issue. Adding a bleeder screw to the rear ABS pump didn't resolve the problem. So I replaced the rear master cylinder with a '13 unit, which has a larger bore. Added EBC HH pads while the caliper was off and Motul 600 rbf all the way around at that time. I think it had a bad master cyl. This bike is divine. It has totally rekindled my passion for motorcycling. I've been riding it every day and loving it more each ride. The bad news... the more I ride it, the more I loose confidence while on the VTR. Sad but true. Yesterday on my commute home from work, as I sat @ a red light, the air temp guage displayed 102f (humidity here is currently 84%)! It's too darn hot to ride for pleasure. |
