Tasty DB1 SR,

Now in the man cave, has a 900 SS motor fitted and is road registered.

Not running right, will have a fiddle tomorrow and all being well will go for a ride over the favourite mountain.

Definitely a cool bike, but... that motor. Hope you have good luck with it. I know there are a few different versions, but the last story I heard was about failing head fasteners.

The Bimota belongs to a close female Dr friend.

One of the best things about being handy with the spanners is that you get to sample all sorts of machinery.

We have been trying to buy a DB1 for about 3 years now and finally it's here.

I have given it a very thorough going over and took it for a 50 mile shakedown ride.

Not as fast as the VTR but a hoot to ride all the same.

The X75 is a long term resto for another friend.

I am busy as a one armed brick layer in Beruit at the moment!

Someone has spent a lot of money on the DB1 , the 900 SS motor fitment is a work of art with one off custom inlet manifolds and custom exhaust, yet still retains the traditional DB1 look.

I still prefer the VTR, but no doubt will enjoy riding the DB1 from time to time. It is not going to be a wall flower and will get plenty of road and track time.

Lucky I know my way around belt driven Duc motors.

So, this is yours now? I'm curious, does the 900SS motor hurt the value? Definitely doesn't hurt the performance!

The bike isn't mine, it belongs to a lady friend of mine.

It will spend most of the time in my Man Cave so that it can be kept safe and sound.

There is a little bit to do to it , and it needs to be set up to suit the new owner.

The clutch is hydraulic and has been beef d up so the standard arrangement is less than satisfactory as it is as heavy as hell. Small details like this are a priority so that the bike can be used.

The 900 motor is a known modification that is cost effective in getting more power.

The bike is deceptively quick and very unfussed in the way that it puts the power to the ground. A 750 motor and some other standard bits and pieces are being sourced in case it is ever sold. Not likely in the near future though as these bikes are very rare and it has been a lengthy process to get our hands on one.

Wow. Just... Wow.

How the heck did they get the frame on the engine? Looks like the carbs would need to be installed after the frame was installed? Man is that stuffed in there. Really cool to see!

Bimota make the frame, this bike saved them.

Just yesterday I threatened the owner that I was gunna copy the frame and stick a VTR1000 motor in it.

The look was priceless as I enjoy sticking it to the Ductisti at every opp.

The bike is as light as and is where you want it just as you think it. In other words, very responsive .

The 900 SS doesn't have the mumbo up top like the VTR. I can't help thinking a Bim frame with the VTR would be heaven.

Currently the clutch is apart. It is too heavy and needs to be lightened.

Anyways, more pics if you like, every time I look at this bike I see something new.

Whoever built it knew what they were doing!

Clutch is all sorted now, this little bike is very deceptive and handles extremely well.

The motor is lazy compared to the VTR however it's certainly not lacking when it comes to speed.mI can see a lightened flywheel helping out here!

As you can see the VTR is in fine fettle. I have some new tyres on the way for it. Got 9000Klms out of a set of Bridgestone T30s. One more ride on them with lower pressures and then fit the new ones.

The Bimota is demanding attention. Sorting this bike has made me appreciate the virtues of the VTR that's for sure. Flog it , park it, cursory clean and it's ready for the next time.

I have almost finished the first oil and filter change and will make some minor tweaks and get it on the road for a 180Klm ride this Saturday all being well.

Still waiting for a few bits and pieces, one being a clutch lever. If that doesn't make the clutch liveable then a different M/C should do the trick.

Should be fun!
