Trike vs Sidecar vs Trailer

Anybody know the legal differences between a trike, a sidecar and a trailer? I say legal because I got to thinking about trailers and how could I attach one to my Shawk, but I don't want to go through the fuss of getting a homebuilt "trailer" certified, titled and plated. IIRC, a sidecar/training wheels can be added to a bike without changing it's status, and not requiring it's own plate.

I could ride my Shawk more if I could take it to work, but typically I have to haul waay too much **** to make it practical. A little single wheel trailer might be the hot ticket, if I can make it work. [think backwards wheelbarrow] I think I have most of the engineering overcome, and I am pretty sure it will work. But it's a moot point if I can't get it on the road...

No, I am *not* going to buy a GW, ST, BMW or any other foolishness.. Remember I am the guy with the Rifle rack attachment for his bike....

Depends on the state. In AZ trikes and sidecars require a different license endorsement than a motorcycle. (3 wheel vehicles) But IIRC in Wisconsin a trike = motorcycle legally. So you will have to check to see how Illinois views these things.
