THANK YOU Superhawk forum.

Thank you to everyone who donated to getting my knee fixed.

Turns out my Patella was shattered. I just had re constructive surgery.

Surgery was 5 hours long and I was in the hospital for 3 days. They used fiber wire to stitch the 2 main pieces of the patella back together, and removed the other little pieces. They also stitched in a cadivar ligament for extra insurance.

Im laid up for 6 weeks, cant move the leg. Then the slow recovery starts and I have to stretch the tendons that were absorbed by the muscles. 8 full cm of stretching. That means its gonna take a long time.

here is a before and after pic.

So thanks again to everyone. With your help I am now on the road to recovery.

Looks wicked! I'm happy to see you finally got it fixed. Here's to a speedy recovery.

Best wishes brother. It'll be some hard work but you'll be up and running before you know it and it'll surely be worth it.

ripvanwinkle Nov 3, 2009 11:05 AM

Pleased too hear Truc you've finally got the work needed on it done. It certainly looks a lot better than it did!

mikstr Nov 3, 2009 11:22 AM

jbaxx Nov 3, 2009 11:33 AM

Damn, that looks nasty! Glad you finally got your surgery though.
Get better so you can put all that talent to good use!

Moto Man Nov 3, 2009 11:46 AM

Good luck Truck! Hope you heal up quick.

cliby Nov 3, 2009 12:07 PM

that is a f#$k'd up knee cap. wow. that is modded more than even your bike was!

good luck. Seriously, do everything they say to rehab it right now matter how hard that is at your age to restrain yourself. you've got a long life ahead with a lot of movement - take the time now to let it heal as best can. Rehab postop is key to improving your odds at full recovery

RCVTR Nov 3, 2009 12:18 PM

That's what I was going to say. Don't skimp on the physical therapy. Dedicate to it and work harder than enyone else. The fact that it was not a soft tissue injury is good. Work it out and you'll be good as now.

Good luck!

Now don't you go pickin' at the scabs!

;)

Heal up!

Glad you finally got the knee fixed, hope you make a full recovery and get back to doing what you do...

P.S. The fork brace is beautiful, gonna turn it over to the guy who bought my Hawk this coming Saturday...

Hawkrider Nov 4, 2009 07:52 PM

Trucker,

Good luck in your recovery, son. I'll double what Cliby said. Let the fucker heal, then bust your ass in therapy. Those folks know what they're doing. Listen to them.

In the meantime, let us know when you get back in the shop. :)

Byrdman Nov 4, 2009 08:14 PM

looks wicked!!! Don't rush therapy, you need to let it heal because you'll have to live with it for the rest of your life. Good Luck and a speedy recovery!!!!!!!

nath981 Nov 4, 2009 08:41 PM

don't let any of those horny nurses roll over on that leg..................................yet. Maybe you ought to install a couple of your fork braces on there just in case one does.
take things slow Truck and heal it up right, and as they say, "break a leg".:) We'll be waitin fer ya to get back in action/

VTRsurfer Nov 4, 2009 08:57 PM

Your leg would have made a great accessory for a Halloween costume. Do everything the doctors and therapists tell you to do, and get back to ridin' soon.....but not too soon.

Dave in NY Nov 5, 2009 04:39 AM

Here's to a quick recovery! Work hard at the rehab, it seems like you get out of it what you put into it - was that way with my back surgery anyway. I'm looking forward to seeing you get back in shape - gotta do my CCTs this winter...

Seriously, good to see things are moving forward, keep us updated. Cheers!

Sleeper Nov 5, 2009 06:04 AM

Yikes! Hope you get better fast Truck. Here's a bit of advice FWIW: It pays to not be shy and ask for the best looking physiotherapist available so as to help keep you.... 'motivated';).

-Darc

PS. Don't make the same mistake I did. Remember to specify gender.

motojoe Nov 5, 2009 04:56 PM

Good luck on the recovery. Just remember; Chicks dig scars!

Truckinduc Nov 14, 2009 06:34 PM

Thanks guys. I hope I can get an attractive female PT. I had the staples removed. 4 more weeks of not putting pressure on it.

Then the hard work starts.
