I bet the VTR would only get about 30 miles at constant WOT

RWhisen 11-19-2013 07:53 PM

The troopers pegged his speed closer to 150-160 since they were able to keep up in the pursuit vehicles. He is going to be doing some serious time as the charge of felony evading with a motor vehicle carries a minimum sentence of 180 days to maximum 20 years and 10K fine. Not to mention he will probably never get a license again and you can rest assured his bike was impounded and he'll never see it again.

NHSH 11-19-2013 09:58 PM

I don't get why he did that... did he truly wanted to run away? Wrong way to do that for sure... Did he look for publicity? :0 great way to get that, the only problem is that the dude in the video is not even getting how bad he screwed up, I hope he enjoys his publicity in jail, I'm sure someone will if not him.

insulinboy 11-20-2013 05:25 AM

What I don't get is that they were pulling him over because the motorcycle fit the description of a stolen bike, after he showed it was his motorcycle with the reg. He would have been free to go. Why run?

mikstr 11-20-2013 07:40 AM

A Darwinian disciple obviously.........

The linked report says they were initially pulling him over for speeding. I guess the guy just wanted to make it worth their while. The police department should thank him for not wasting their time.

You know, the article really misses the whole point. What type of bike was it? What mods did it have? What tires? What was the weight of the rider? How are we supposed to argue whether or not he could have attained a speed of 189mph or not? This is bullshit.

ahernandez74 11-20-2013 10:47 AM

Damn... How does anyone ever think they're getting away from the cops late night. You have literally a 2 minute window to escape before they call in the big time helicopters... they're you're screwed.

7moore7 11-20-2013 10:49 AM

That reminds me... gotta figure out a kill switch for all the things that light up on my bike. Also, I need to buy an electric bike.

VTR1000F 11-20-2013 11:00 AM

I have to have a two minute escape plan formulated for all normal routes, then I need some form of anti-aircraft missle as a back-up. It might be easier to just fall-back to the back-up from the get-go.

7moore7 11-20-2013 11:07 AM

Haha- "Clear the skies, gonna run to the store to grab some groceries!"

Rider says he was doing 189 but we all know actual is a different number. Why wouldn't he at some point exit the highways and try to lose them on back roads, then find a dark place to hide?? Definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed!

It's funny you mention that VTR1000F, I wonder how many of us have that planned escape route??

VTR1000F 11-20-2013 03:01 PM

I think you're wrong, Wolverine. Maybe he had a speedo healer. I'm sayin' he was doing the 189. The guy looks legit and he's a snappy dresser. If he was bullshittin' he'd a said 190 or 200. 189 just smells like truth.

Man, this isn't as fun without the data.

Shall I dig up the tire slip thread? :evillaugh: :burnout:

VTR1000F 11-20-2013 04:02 PM

Go ahead. I'll be making up whatever data supports my assertion seein' as you couldn't manage to post any to begin with.

Oh, don't no... 189 actually doe's not sound true, If I recall correctly that was the exact number of true reading on a Hayabusa, and this bike was more like 1000cc, so I have a big doubt he did what he claimed, either way he is done!

JamieDaugherty 11-21-2013 03:56 AM

189 = No you weren't

Maybe 160.

+1 Agreed

VTR1000F 11-21-2013 05:39 AM

OK, so you guys are sayin' his bike was red or black or something, but not yellow?

7moore7 11-21-2013 07:00 AM

No way he was going 189... Did you see the size of that font sprocket? It was huge. He was clearly running high gears. Speedo may have been showing 189, but I bet he was doing 210+

If the bike was yellow, it would have done 189 no problem.....but in KM's:rotf::rotf:

Yellow guys laughing at this? There must be some forum rule or by-law violation going on here.

In any case, I disagree. At 189 mph, I don't believe any color Superhawk would make it 189 kilometers before running out of gas. While yellow is known to be faster, I've seen no testing to indicate any one color get's better gas mileage than another. That just wouldn't make sense.

I'm sure of it. He could have made if 189 KMs if he was doing a wheelie at the end...

VTR1000F 11-21-2013 08:13 AM

I stand corrected.
