So I got rid of the VTX..

I got rid of the VTX and left Honda land entirely.. Now I have a Yamaha Roadstar Warrior.

I can say I am far happier with this than I was with the VTX. This thing makes the VTX feel like a pig, it is much more of a rider's bike, and I dare say almost as fast as the VTR was in anything but the most challenging twisties. (I would scrape pegs with the VTR occasionally, and it is only slightly more often with the warrior at similar speeds) And for straight line acceleration, 1700cc's of fuel injected engine is arm stretching.

How does wifie like it? I like the looks of that bike better than the Honda too...

No wifie, and the GF is afraid of motorcycles, so I ride alone.

(my avatar pic is fairly old, that gal is married to someone else now)

That's a great motorcycle. I like the way it rides.
It just comes down to riding position and feel. Thats all personal preference.
I personally found the weight and relaxed position to be wrong for me.

Our Hawks were released 15 years ago. That's a HUGE technology time difference....and they still hold a candle to some new bikes out today....plus they are Cheap!

Ohh I must have been way off then... for some reason I though you were getting into cruisers was for better 2up riding among other things.

Even better then. I don't think I've ever done a ride with a passenger that I thought "dang glad I had that extra body to hold up while I'm slamming on my front brakes"

Which VTX did you have? I had a 1300S and you'd be amazed the handling difference that better bars gives.

1300s, and it was a pig. (full bags, windshield, light bar, radio, espresso machine.. well not quite, but you get the picture) But really dropping a couple hundred pounds and gaining 30lb/ft of torque by going to the warrior, not to mention a stiff aluminum frame and R1 forks and brakes.. the warrior is in a different league than the 1300s.

The VTX was not a bad bike, but just turning onto the road from a stop I'd scrape the floorboards.. Were I planning a trip to Alaska it'd be the bike I'd take. But for my 400 to 700 mile trips that I do, the Warrior is just a bit more exciting.

Glad you're enjoying the new sled, but I'm not surprised by your findings. the VTX is an underpowered cruiser. You were probably lucky to be pushing more than 55 hp on it. The Warrior is a power cruiser with bigger motor and better power. Add to that the better clearance of them, and there you have it. :)

By the way, you do realize we don't believe anything you are saying without pictures. ;)

I am getting the same reaction on the rswarrior forum.. Pics are coming, just need to get out and do that. But working till sundown leaves little time for that.

obviously your priorities are all screwed up! ;) ;) ;)
