Who needs skill when all that bottom end torque does all the work for you....

yeah, the fabled big twin low-end torque.... urban legend crap.....great until you try to use it, then the bike chugs so badly you swear it will fall apart (don't believe me, open the throttle on any big twin at low rpm and see what happens)..... here, on the other hand, is a prime example of low-end torque: Suzuki GSX1250FA: Stump Puller!

My bad, sorry, I am just so used to hearing this ridiculous (an clearly false) urban myth...... it`s right up there with all I4 engine having peaky power deliveries.... and a Vee configuration having magical powerband-broadening and torque-enhancing properties.......

Not a big deal, it gets hard to read sarcasm on forums sometimes.

Cough, cough, Ive got a Holeshotted Bandit, real one with out water cooling, Cough.

One of my veteran techs breathed on a Bandit 1200 a few years back , and set it up for grunt rather than peak ponies. I forget the specifics on the build , but it featured cylinder and piston mods, soft cams, a LOT of head work, got considerably lighter.... and basically pulled like a freaking jet powered freight train right from idle . We didn't have a dyno at the shop back in those days, but I rode that bike several times and it felt as if it would easliy pull on my '01 Kawi ZRX1200R . The Z-Rex is no slouch,modded a fair bit and making 133 peak RWP with 101 ft/lbs. of peak torque, which is delivered on a nice flat curve that basically is available as soon as you get the clutch engaged.

A big displacement I4 that is tuned for torque is a true monster on the street, and a blast to ride . You have gobs of power at hand all of the time, regardless of what gear you are in, or where the tach needle happens to be.You simply twist on that stupendous torque when you want it.

That's the cool thing about a Superhawk... you get some pretty respectable low and mid range grunt, but in a fairly light , nice handling sportbike. Fun bike for everyday, real world street riding.
