New Adventure

Well it had to be done. After 20 more or less years in the karting industry, I had to get out of it. The sport has been going in downward spiral for the past few years, and making a decent living was becoming more and more difficult.

I now work in Canada's largest motorcycle shop. 105 000sq/ft over 2 floors, and 13 different brands of just about every motorised recreational vehicle you can imagine. There is millions and millions in inventory. It's like working in my own personal motorcycle show every day.

This is a family owned business, and I've known them since the late 90's. They are very innovative since they work hard at coming up with new projects. This time, they bought the business next door, and they will be opening a rental shop, along with a motorcycle museum come spring 2017. They have been spending allot of time and money in searching and buying some of the most awesome bikes that have been made. I had the opportunity to take a few pics of some of these before they stored them once they arrived at the store.

I hope you will find them as cool as I do....

Jack - I hope the new position is rewarding in all regards! Sounds like waking up in toyland. Is that 2 wheel drive a Rupp? I remember seeing one when I was a kid.

Josh,
Congrats on the new venture. I can kinda relate after my recent career change. Going to work is an enjoyable process now. So much eye candy and you're part of it all. Hope they treat ya right and everything works out to your benefit.
Can we ask what your roll will be in the new facility?

And... was that a superhawk I saw???

I think it's a Rokon.

👍 Thanks. It was a long time ago so I misremembered it.

Jack,
Good luck on the "New Adventure" sounds like a great move for you. I to am self employed, and it is getting harder not to make a living but to hang on to the profits here where I live in Connecticut.... You can check out my business facebook page at www.facebook.com/KJREngineering I am looking forward to my retirement and just building bikes in my basement shop, coffee in the morning, bourbon in the afternoon...

I just realised the pics are upside down.

Yes it's a Rokon. You can fill the inside of the wheels with water or gas I guess. The front wheel is chain driven with a strange setup through the frame. There's a bunch of other cool bikes and sleds from way back. Turn of the 20th century Indians, BSA's, and others.

J, I'm in sales. They set me up in the Triumph section and in the process of becoming a Triumph....get this...Champion. Yes, Triumph calls us Champions. I've been studying just about everything you can find out about a Triumph bike, including the companies history. They're pretty fussy about customer approach, and what needs to be said while speaking about Triumph to a customer.

Right now, with winter being here, I'm selling sleds and side-by-sides more than anything else.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. Can't say it's an easy ride for the moment, but trying to make the best of this new situation. I'll try and send you more pics when they start setting up in the new building.

Whaaat? They're not Australian models?

Sales! Awesome, I'd love to work up front once in a while. Then one of those extra special customers come in and opens their mouth, which sends me walking straight to the back w/ my 2 lifts. Today I took a call while the boss was out, guy asked if the red bottle of liquid performance stuff he bought there was the stuff to put in the gas for winter storage. Dammm can you not read! It says right on the bottle...

LOL ! I don't have to deal with that sort of nonsense. That's the parts departements problem. So, if I do get a silly question like that, I just tell them 'your silly answer is that way >>>>>>>'
