i finally took a pic of my new to me 2001 rc51.

Love it. I dont know why RC-51s give me such a boner.....

i took it out for the first time today. love the sound.
that stuff you see on the tank is the static cling protection i just put on. the air bubbles go away after a few weeks.
i still need to find a resistor or flasher to solve the fast flash led signal lights.
paid $5800cad($4700usd). 12500kms(7500mi). great condition.

it is in fact in great condition but not perfect. there are two scratches, one on the swingarm and one on the very bottom of the fairing.
the bike was well taken care of. i have changed the fluids and done a decent going over it.
i took it for a short spin around town last night. it's different than the hawk. less forgiving i would say. unfortunately there's a snow storm blowing out there right now and it'll be a while before i get a chance to ride again.

A beauty ... I bike like that will cost me around 25000 $ in Denmark, because of our insane tax-system :eek:

canada's got an insane tax system too. the reason i got the bike so cheap is because the province of quebec jacked up the public insurance rates on sportbikes in an effort to take them off the road. it's working.

I think that the RC 51 is one of the sexiest bikes that Honda has produced. Why do they always seem to stop making the bikes that I like (Hawk GT, SuperHawk, RC 51)?

I went riding on the 1098 the other day with a guy who has an RC51 with a Sato exhaust. The RC51 has a deep, bad ass sound.

Did you get to switch off? I'm curious how they compare.

answer: because North Americans prefer posercyclces like Harleys and the new Fury.... *puke*

I wouldn't say blows away, but I'm just looking at the #s, no ride exp! Getting snow here in CB tonight as well pooch so I feel your pain!

maybe the 1098 won't blow my rc51 away but it will take it for sure. my buddy just bought a 1098. when the snow is gone we'll be doing some "testing".

No, we didn't switch off. Although I was in the canyons last weekend with another RC-51 and on the straights the RC-51 drops back pretty quickly. We were even through the curves though. It was a new road to both of us.
