My New (To Me) 2003 SV1000...
 

Recently purchased a 2003 SV1000! I've had such a good time riding around my wifes '03 SV650 that I thought it was about time I got my own. I haven't had a chance to throw down any real miles but I have had the opportunity to hit the twisties near my house and man is that upright seating position fun (& comfy)! Power is on par with the VTR but chassis stability is far greater, plus I've got fully adjustable suspension right out of the gate. It does seem to show it's weight at slow speed more-so than the VTR but it all goes away once I'm in motion. So far my biggest complaint is the engine vibration under acceleration... makes the VTR seem as smooth as a sewing machine.

At 30k miles the bike is starting to show it's age but it's not too far gone to bring it back to almost primo condition. Looking to ditch the Corbin and get a Sargent seat, get a Yoshimura 2-1 full system and possibly get some Carrozzeria wheels for it (depending on what happens to the VTR). :cool:

let's hope your beloved VTR doesn't learn of this infatuation with a new girlfriend, and esp that you already have intentions of buying her gifts like seats and wheels. This is an outrage and you should ashamed because these are simply unacceptable indiscretions, esp in light of the wonderful and sweet-looking wife who has been so endearing and faithful to you over the years. To be whoring around with this character-less wannabe(you can tell this by her cheap-looking blue dress and silver-painted jewelry) just for a little good sex is despicable by anyone's standards, esp one married to such an honorable and capable marque as the VTR.

We can only hope for her sake, as well as for your own, that you will come to your senses, beg forgiveness, and get this unscrupulous intruder out of your life forever.

I think we need to revoke his VTROTM certification for speaking such blasphemy! Of course, that could be inspired by my jealousy of his VTR. ;)

I see we are lacking fans of the SV 'round here. :lol: As of now, it's a "menage a trois" situation... no plans on ditching the VTR... yet. ;)

I'm a super big fan of Suzuki's SV650. Make's for the best budget race bike, had lots of fun racing them and doing trackdays on them. Best canyon racer out there for the money. I have rode a few SV1000's and never got the same feeling of ease of use as the smaller model. For some reason for me, it was just not a user friendly ride!

For street riding, I'm not a big fan of the wee SV... But get me on a track with one, and I'll be happy as a pig in mud as long as you keep the tires and fuel coming... ;)

Give the Corbin seat a chance. I have one just like it on my 2003 Kawasaki Z1000 and I love it. I've riden nearly 500 miles on it in one day with no problems. Nice SV. I always liked them till I found my VTR.

Had a Corbin on my VTR for a week... hated it. too bad as it was the smuggler which was a neat setup. This one is just as uncomfortable and is way too low.

Not a fan of the naked bike look on modern bikes myself. 'specially big modern bikes. Just doesn't look "right" to me. Big fan of the SV650S though, but not the <throwup> blue </throwup> ones! :cool:

(blue VTR's are awesome though)

My son has an '05 SV650 and an '05 Sv1000. The Sargent seat I bought him fits both bikes.
