I have a dream

And a new project :)

Friend of mines dad had a Honda dream before she was born (he sold it when she was born so he wouldn't get hurt on it) and she wanted to get him one before he passed when he got ill several years ago. It unfortunately never happened but she has continued to keep an eye out for one to restore and remember him by. I found this complete one (minus a tail light lens) for $595 on craigslist this morning. 6 hours later it was in the garage from about 2 hours away. It doesn't run, but she cant ride anyway so if it never can its not a huge deal as the main purpose will really be as a garage queen anyway, but we are going to do our best to get it running so if she does eventually learn to ride she can ride it (if we get it running I'm going to make her take an MSF course and use one of their bikes to learn on rather than droping one that parts are impossible to find learning how to use the clutch and shift)

As a bonus we ended up with an old aluminum coke display he had for free (one of the little houses they kept 12 packs in) that we are going to convert into a dog house for a new rescue we got recently

Really cool looking bike Insulin. What a great project to take on and restore.
Can't believe you managed to dig this up. What a country to have stuff like this still out there.

We have been looking for the last 5 years to find the right bike. Originaly for him we were looking for a 305 (what he actually had) after he passed we started looking for a smaller one that she would be more comfortable on if she ever decided to get her licence and be able to ride it. This 150 popped up today and just ended up being the perfect fit

I would like to add though that I envy you canuks for having the RZ500. I'd give my left nut to have one

mikstr 11-22-2013 06:30 PM

Said RZ is but one among a nice list of bikes we got up here that never made it to the US (RD350, RZ350, RG500, TZR250, TDR250, DT200R, TS200R, MT-01, NSR400,... ). Sadly those days are pretty well behind us now...... most of what we get now are heavy, slow, ill-handling, chromed-up cruisers........

insulinboy 11-22-2013 06:37 PM

We got the RD350 (i had two of them, and an RD125) we also have the valvey RZ350's. We did not however have the best 350, the RD350LC :)

mikstr 11-22-2013 08:08 PM

I meant the LC RD..... a sweet giant-killer......

sweet ride...I'd check the value of that coke cooler before turning it into a dog house. Some collector/restorer out there might pay big bucks for it.

We happen to be mild coke collectors. Coke only recently (this year) stopped using these little houses for 12 packs, and since it already has a flap that opens in the front of it the only real modification will be to add a puppy pillow to the bottom of it :) he's only outside when we are at the store so we just need something he can stay dry in if/when it rains and we have to go out

Hmmm... MT-01 i would love to try it, Did you Mikstr? If yes, How is it compared to the VTR?

mikstr 11-24-2013 05:35 AM

Sorry, never got any saddle time on the MT-01.... I have an acquaintance who had one for one season and enjoyed it, however.....

Great Stuff - good luck with the rebuild.

Good luck on your project. If I remember right the Dream was a 305cc vertical twin, wasn't it? A friend of a friend had one when I was in high school.
