15+ years in the Air Force ( 4 active, the rest has been full time Air National Guard) and after all my trips overseas since 9-11, theres nothing I'd rather do.

Thanks guys....

no go relax and watch a classic war movie.... such as Patton, or "The Great Escape" "The Longest Day" The Green berets" RAMBO OR SOME OTHER FEEL GOOD ABOUT BEING AN AMERICAN MOVIE :)

Cleveland 11-11-2008 01:45 PM

Watched Pearl Harbor last night...

"The Great Escape" is classic... But how 'bout "The Magnificent Seven" or "Kelly's Heroes" or "Guns of Navarone"..

Sincerity is one of those things thats tough to get across on an online forum but trust me when i say that i/we all appreciate everything that all the men and women of the armed forces do. We seem to have a very strong military presence on this site, makes me proud to be a member.

radbikers 11-11-2008 04:16 PM

Thank you. 22 years USAF, including the 1st Gulf War and the mountains of northern Iraq... My wife, 20 years USAF.

A quick story... I was coming home from a mid-East deployment, still in desert uniform. Landed in the States after 20 hours of military flights. Catching a commercial flight home, coach class of course, middle seat. A businessman sitting in 1st class got up, talked to the flight attendent, who came back and got me and brought me up to his seat, saying he wanted me to have it. I protested, but he walked back and took my seat after saying it was the least he could do. I was overwhelmed. I pulled my organizational patch off my sleeve as we exited the plane at home and gave it to him in thanks. You should have seen his eyes...and mine, too.

Now, please don't forget all those still serving, especially those overseas! Don't just say it here. You don't have to give them your seat. Just the next time you see a Vet or one still serving, PLEASE tell them thank you in person. You don't know how much it means unless you've received such a cherised moment...

Living next door to Camp Pendleton, my wife and I cross paths with Marines in town. We tell them thanks whenever we can. We've also, anonymously, picked up a few tabs in our favorite Mexican restaurant.
