DL650 Meets Deer... Aftermath.
 

Here's a DL650 we picked up yesterday. I got confirmation from a local redneck that the hair trapped in the fender is deer hair... and no, that's not mud.

Does it smell as bad as it looks ?

Hope the rider is OK, and at least got some venison out of the deal.

Pressure washer is in the background of the first photo, took about 45 min to wash it all off... still finding bits and pieces upon dissasembly. And yes, it does smell as bad as looks, possibly worse. As for the rider... I never want to know... I hate finding out the worst.

I put a deer out of her stupidity with my '62 Chev. She came out of the ditch from the driver's side and as she got to the point of impact she lowered her head. I caught her right on the headlight which decapitated the animal. I'll never forget that head flying over the fence and into the corn field beyond. The impact swung her body around and her ass body-slammed my door. She blew her load all down the side of the car. When I got to the cafe where we all would meet up for breakfast everybody came out to see what happened. Everybody quickly piled back inside because the smell was so bad.

My Wife got her 1st last year.It actually hit her.Took the mirror off,mirror hit her hand on steering wheel,then wacked her between the eyes and ended up behind pass. seat.They also butted heads,neck got hooked on door and body slammed into side of van.She was on a 2 lane going about 55.

The glass in your pictures reminded me of one of the worst accidents I ever worked - it involved my guys. They were getting on the freeway with a wheelbarrow not tied down and it went airborn. It caught the young lady behind them in a minivan just like yours in the middle of the windshield.

When I get there she is sitting in the doorway of the side slider spitting glass. As I look around the van everything looks pretty ok until I look into the back. Three car seats. If those three kids had been in that van at impact every one of them could have permanent eye damage or worse.

My guys were parked a ways away talking to the cop. I think they wished they could be on another planet. I talk constantly to all the guys about securing their loads. We're hauling shit everyday.

After about ten minutes the cop tells me he couldn't have said it better. Each of them (driver and passenger) is cited for failure to secure and that's $300 a pop (ten years ago) think what it is now.

As a on the road salesman, er i mean salesperson, i have hit 3 deer in my 25 years on the job. whistling along on the Hawk at illegal speeds i have thought about what hitting a deer would do. Now i see it would be ugly and painful! Hope the riders OK. AGATT for sure.

Except during the rut I think the Superhawk surprises them and they are more likely to move out ahead of the bike because of the noise. The Interceptor is in their kitchen before you/they know it. That's somewhat weird. Up on Cat Mountain it's like dancing Bambi's.
