Well, it arrived yesterday morning while I was at work, neighbor's kids were all wondering what's in the big box:

Our of the box, it was poorly setup for ergonomics, so I too my tools to it..

I mixed the fuel, 25:1 unleaded and 2-stroke oil, like the chainsaw. I gave the pull start a few gentle pull and then one quick pull, engine came to life with nice puff of smoke.. Neighbor's kid (11 yo rider) and I (33 yo monkey) rode it around for a 10 minutes or so.. had a blast going through speed bumps and figure 8's.. another neighbor's father came along wanted to give it a try, he pulled the pull starter so hard that the cord rickoched and broke the fuel filter, fuel started to poor out from the fuel line.. that was the end of the fun..
Cheap plastic fuel filter housing cracked when hit by dangling pull start handle.. The neighbor felt really bad for ruining our fun..

Where in the heck did you find that thing?

cat0020 07-18-2007 01:45 PM

from Scootercrew.com, though I have to say the way that company conduct business is a joke.
I placed my order on June 7th, received on July 17th, fraudulant claims on their website, inacurate product description, company never return phonecalls, never pick up their phone, rarely reply to email attempts.
I would not buy from them again, and I wouldn't recommend them either.

Do you know anywhere else that sells these?

cat0020 07-27-2007 08:16 AM

I don't know of anyone else selling these at price below $400... the real deal of pocket bike sidecars usually cost upward of $1500

Just picked up a sidecar in Australia, CAG engine. I believe the massive price difference comes in the quality of engine fitted. A chinese air cooled is cheap, an Italian water cooled engine is expensive - but you pay for what you get, and a water cooled purpose built minimoto engine is better than an aircooled low quality chainsaw engine.

For you guys in the states Dan at http://www.westcoastminisidecars.com is probably your best first point of contact. But this is racing focused

Can you post some pictures of your sidecar?
