Bucket List Check-off

This weekend I had the opportunity to go skydiving for the first time. My younger son went too, but the older one thought we were just crazy. The first step was an EXTREME rush for about 35 seconds. It was a fun experience, but I think I still prefer going fast on a track.

Congrats! I did the same thing four summers ago, part of an effort to confront my fear of heights. I have never had butterflies in my gut like when the door opened at 13,000 ft and was told the time had come..... *GULP*......

My son has the same problem and he was more nervous than I was. That first step away from the plane was a real rush though. On top of that, we rolled over once before we stabilized. in one of the pictures you can just see the tip of the plane's wing as we went over.

Now that the nerves are past, I think I want to do it again just to experience what I missed the first time. :)

Yeap, I remember that day, Stand on the rear door, MY NERVES shot.. The C.O. screaming his head off at me.. Then the bliss of falling..
Glad you enjoyed the experience.. Truly the most enjoyable,"FREE" activity in the service...
Congrads......

I dunno, that other guy is strapped awfully tight to your ass....jus' sayin'......

:)

As a former US Army paratrooper, with over 500 leaps of faith to his credit, I can say it never fails to be a rush. Enjoy.

I have no problems with skydiving, it's just over too quick, like said before. I've never done it, so I can't comment, but I've got friends who have. The thrill of falling, then flying has got to be great, but too would rather get on the track. :)

Congrats on checking that off.

I remember hauling three divers when I was just first certified to haul passengers. It took us hours to climb to 5K ft. Not really but it really felt that way. We get to drop altitude and they want the aircraft to approach the drop slower. I'm at airspeed 60 and the bird stalls at 48. I shook the last two of them out of the door.

Wow I would not do that, jumping out of a perfectly good plane and all. Are you still seeing the instructor? I mean did he ever call after that?

rz_racer_69 03-19-2012 09:17 PM

^^^ So wrong! lol.

Old Yeller 03-20-2012 06:46 AM

The instructor told me it was all just part of the initiation. Did he lie to me?:eek::eek:

Seriously though, it was a lot of fun. Definitely worth doing at least once.

Not a lot of piece of mind with those "helmets", eh?

I felt like a football player! At 120 MPH, it wouldn't have made a difference anyway. :)
