Re: What other vehicles do you have

Well being only 27 years old, my list is a little shorter than some of you.

1987 Ford Ranger - carb 5 speed - power nothing

1991 ford escort (was commuting 45miles each way to college) power nothing

2000 Honda Civic EX power everything - currently has 115k on it and running strong

Bikes
1989 600 CBR Hurricane - got me addicted to motorcycles
1973 CB500 Four (got it for 400 bucks
1981 Suzuki GS 1000
2002 Superhawk

I do miss the top end rush of the CBR. But the superhawk would smoke it.

My next bike will be a fuel injected twin.......but thats a long time from now.....

Ah! A man with excelent taste!
Current Vehicles:
2000 Miata, turbocharged, suspension, motor, ~2.5x stock HP. Not the fastest car in the world, but given it's handling it's not bad for a strong 13 second hairdresser car! Also: Roll bar, MP3 input, oilcooler & race-rad combo, SPEC clutch&flywheel, moded powerwindows to work without key, extra dc-outs, CB-FM antena splitter, Kosie 10lb wheels, brakes, sways, gps, oil filt relocate, and signed by the miata cheif designer

1977 Kawasaki KZ1000, also turbocharged, centrifugal clutch, punched out motor, electronic ignition, sometimes water injection. ~220 hp

1998 SuperHawk, Gixxer subframe, tail and brakes, 929RR front end, R6 fairing, DynoJet, Leo-Vinci, Harris RearSets, Dynojet, nology wires, olin steering damper, fox twinclick rear, powdercoated frame, polished wheels

Past Vehicles:
1986 Pontiac Fiero SE, 4cyl, 5 spd. Nice car, noisey motor
1987 Pontiac Fiero, 4cyl, not as nice as SE
1978 Suzuki GS400, $200, p.o. never changed oil
1989 Katana750, Corbain Seat, most comfotable bike ever! 80+k miles
1989 Ninja600, bought for sister, got back when she moved
1984 Honda Magna, relocated controls, saddle bag, etc

Vehicles I practically owned by paying for, driving more than the owner, or practically rebuilding myself:
1969 Honda CB750 - came in boxes.
1986 Yahama... something. Tourer with shaft drive and square headlights. Nice bike.
1985 Honda CB750, sister's bike

Boy, the garage seems pretty empty these days.... I had the Magna, KZ, Ninja, Katana, and Miata all in there just two months ago - though the SH is a good trade!

I've had quite a few nice cars, but you know my little Fiero piece of *****. . . although mechanically a nightmare. . . would out handle any of them hands down.

I had a gt and I agree they did handle like they were on rails. Just don't get it in a spin with that mid-engine it'll spin forever! But as far as all around package, with all the cars I've owned, (and that's alot of cars boys and girls), I liked my 240z the best. It had the down draft 6 single webber carbs and I used to love watching the rich porsche owners faces as I out accelerated and out handled there $25000 carrea.

Re: What other vehicles do you have

I would actually love to have one of those old 240s, I had a friend that had one and I just loves that car. The 280/300/350 just doesn't seem to have the same soul as the 240.

It's all about shaving weight. I've known a few folks who've done the V-8 conversion on the Z - you get 50-50 weight distb, and a few hundred HP. :-)

But for those of you who would fit in them - get the girl's car. Those miatas are a lot of fun! There's only a few cars I respect, and very few cars I fear - these days.

They actually de-tuned the 260z and above because of the gas shortages back in the early to mid seventies. But I don't know those new ones look pretty nice.

Damn that's an impressive list. I'm gonna register the Frankenhawk name so I'll be mine, all mine.

You don't happen to have a spare front wheel with rotors for my Frankenhawk?

depends on what kind of wheel you're putting on it! No spare Superhawk stuff (yet) as I haven't modded mine yet

Re: What other vehicles do you have

I need an RC51 wheel and rotors so my new front end will work. I've got an F3 wheel on there now but the rotors are too small.
I've got a mutt of a front end. It consists of a 929 upper triple, 954 lower with tapered race bearings, 929 Helibars mounted under the upper triple so I could drop the forks all the way, vtr controls, ZX12R axle, and GSXR 1000 forks. Right now I've got the vtr calipers on there because they cover more of the smaller VTR rotors. I have the GSXR brake calipers too but can't use them until I get 320mm rotors which is why I want an RC51 wheel.

Didn't you SEE the sorry, girl comment. And nice shot.

Did they take that from a tower or something, or is it just really banked?

I saw sorry - and it'a not neccassary....but thanks (I forgot the smiley in my last post - I was surfing through my new disk of photos from my last track day)

The turn is a uphill shot and the photog was above me slightly - plus Bones (the photog) is just THAT good
I've got the bike leaned over to nearly scraping pegs (I try to stop before THAT happens! YIKES)

Yeah, sure, but they are so damned SLOW. And bulky. And I've heard they steer like pigs. They look like neat cars, but I don't like the bigger-than-I-really-am styling, and I just couldn't spend so much on something I can spank, even with my lack of driving skill, in my dinky little 300 hp miata. :-)

Yes, the miata is the other "on rails" handling car I have driven, and if yours has 300 ponies I don't think anyone would doub't the speed, and don't get me wrong, I think Mazda builds some of the best semi-performance cars right now, but Miatas are a all over and you don't see very many 240zs any more. Sometimes its all about the style. . .

Edit: I just noticed you were talking about the 350Z. . .my bad. . .

FYI - it's going around the country - the "Zoom-Zoom Live" event - you just show up and you get to autocross the new miata, run the RX-8 pretty hard, flog the 3, the 5, and the 6, and then there's a neat event where you drive the miata with a bowl full of golf ***** on it to see how smooth you are.

Recommended!
