Amazing sunset

I'm a recent transplant to NYC. Though I grew up around Pgh, I've spent the last couple of decades living in the San Francisco Bay Area, a truly beautiful place to be.

I thought I'd seen some amazing sunsets out that way, but none of them top what I saw the other night. We've been in the midst of off-n-on stormy weather, with humidity saying it's gotta rain any minute now.

The other evening the sky was filled with clouds and eventually, around 8:30, the sun lit up those clouds with an amazing burnt orange color, that was musty and heavy. It was, to be cliché, awesome.

Here's a pic:

That's a cool picture. I don't suppose you have a larger res, do you?

Those in the northern hemisphere should be on the lookout for some unusual sunsets and sunrises because of a volcanic eruption from Russia's Sarychev Peak volcano last week or so. Ash and gasses and such are floating around in the atmosphere right now and making their way around the globe. So we should have some interesting shows here and there.
Go to www.SpaceWeather.com for more info. Here is a link from SpaceWeather.com showing an animation of the gasses and stuff making their way around over the last few days: http://spaceweather.com/images2009/2...69ekbnilbb4h63
My brother and I saw a sunset last August that was really one for the record books when that one Alaskan volcano (I can't remember the name) went off. ....It was just about a red 'n' pink intense sorta sunset experience as one could make it. Just unreal.
Keep your eyes peeled. :p

I'm keeping the hi-res image for my use.

Thanks for the info, Spaz' Cool that technology has allowed us to be so aware of global patterns.
