2008 Honda CBR1000RR Engine

Hello my friends. As many of you know, I purchased a 2008 Limited Edition Honda CBR 1000RR, after my VTR was totaled by a drunk driver several years ago. Last month, I was riding her home from Clearwater, FL when I heard a strange noise in the engine, and felt oil on my leg. I immediately shut her down, and coasted to a stop on the side of the ride. I had her towed to my mechanic, and found out #1 connecting rod cap had failed internally, shooting the rod through the block. A rarity with the CBR engine, and no way to diagnose. Now the question for me, re-build or purchase a new engine? Started the engine search, and quickly found quality CBR engines are expensive, and difficult to find. Take a look for yourself, and you will find even low quality engines are being sold for a minimum of $1,300. Eventually after a long search, I found a low mile engine, and paid thru the nose to purchase. Ouch!

This left me with a used engine, that would be perfect as a donor engine, or a great project bike for a rebuild and quick sale. I plan on selling this engine for the low price of $800, plus shipping and will be posting to Ebay tomorrow. Not trying to make any money, but just want to re-coup some of my upgrade costs, and help someone who needs an engine or quality parts like I did. I know many of you own CBR's as a second bike, and I want to offer to someone on the forum at this low price FIRST. Engine is located at my mechanic in Davenport, FL near Orlando if you are in state and want to take a look and drive home. I can also send photos tomorrow. There is no damage on the Top End, and Starter, Alternator, and all other parts are in excellent condition. All of you know how I keep my bikes pristine! Let me know if interested.
