WTB RC51/ similar Master Cylinder

It may be a long shot, but does anyone have a Master Cylinder laying around or no longer need.

I bought RC Calipers and Russell brake lines and would like to complete the deal...

I have seen some on EBay, but wanted to check here.

PM if you have anything.

Thanks

Two fingers is OK... three and you need a seatbelt... atleast with radial calipers...

I don`t have radial calipers but even with the stock 296 mm rotors, the 1998 CBR900RR calipers, braided lines, Nissin radial MC (from a ZX-6R) and HRC "hard bite" pads that I do have gives me braking that is exceeded only by a Ducati 1098 (in the bikes I have tried of course, and that list includes the new KM RC8, the Duc 848,and quite a few others; having spent 18 months as editor of a bike mag had its benefits)

Anyhow, I wish the dude luck in finding himself an RC51 MC (Note to self: why do I bother trying to give advice and help others anyhow???????).....

Yep, it's nice to have them when you need them isn't it?

i have a 03' cbr 954 master:

https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=16649

i'm almost sure the cbr954rr piston/ bore diameter is 11/16th (17.5mm) which is the same as the rc51 SP2's(2003-2006) master. i can check later. The SP1(2000-2001) used a 19mm front master. The sp1's calipers had 34mm and 32mm pistons while the sp2's had 32mm and 30mm pistons. regardless it's an upgrade over the stock vtr master. the difference between master's will be feel and modulation.

mikstr 02-19-2009 12:32 PM

954 MC is same as SP-2 (as are the calipers)

That is a good deal on that M/C... I'd snatch that up quick if I were you!

Hawkrider 02-19-2009 12:54 PM

Yup, 929, 954, and RC51 are pretty much the same.

mikstr 02-19-2009 01:03 PM

close, but not quite.

929, SP-1 , 900RR (98-99) and F4i have same calipers (and 19 mm MCs, at least in the case of the first two) while the 954 and SP-2 share identical set-ups of their own consisting of smaller pistons in teh MC and calipers (same caliper castings and pads all around though)

skoshere 02-19-2009 01:22 PM

Pm sent on 954 MC....!!!!

Will my Superhawk SS lines work on the 954 MC and RC calipers????

mikstr 02-19-2009 01:25 PM

yes

Tweety 02-19-2009 01:26 PM

Yep...

skoshere 02-19-2009 01:29 PM

last question, since the 954 MC has a bent lever, will my VTR levers work on the new MC?

mikstr 02-19-2009 01:33 PM

no

ff 02-19-2009 01:38 PM

the lever isn't that bad. you could probably bend it back if you're good with a torch and have some skills but, you have to be careful as aluminum can break easily

And I am schooled by the brake-meister! Thanks for the info.

This much I can tell you...I had a 929 master and compared it to my SP2 master (when I had my 02 RC51) and they looked exactly the same and had same diameter pistons. Maybe I got a 954 setup...dunno, but I think I may have bought it before the 954 even came out. That was a long time ago....but I'm pretty confident that the 929 and SP2 are the same.

Tweety 02-19-2009 02:45 PM

929 & SP1 is the same... 954 & SP2 is the same... Same years same parts... But the SP2 and 929 is not the same...

You know forks... I know brakes...:) How much are you willing to bet...;)

Hawkrider 02-19-2009 03:21 PM

Well, if it wasn't cold as fuk outside and I could actually get to my bikes through the snow I'd go look and verify. Until then I guess I'll have to assume that I have myself a 954 master.

Hawkrider 02-19-2009 03:23 PM

Hey, are we done :threadjack: this thread yet? hehe

skoshere 02-19-2009 03:36 PM

So I got the 954 MC - RC SP1 Caliper - Russell Brake Lines (for a VTR)

I should be set up good

skoshere 02-19-2009 03:55 PM

on a side note...

thanks for everyones input, just couldnt muster that much for a radial MC... This setup should do well..
