WTB: Clutch Reservoir
 

This may be a long shot, but does anyone have a clutch reservoir they would be willing to sell or the master cylinder assembly? My Superhawk is losing fluid every three months or so and I have not found any leaks on the banjo fittings or around the slave. The reservoir does show cracking internally so I figured I would change that first.

Have one for you. However, do you feel oil around the outside of the reservoir ? I know this sounds silly, but, if the outside is dry, and, you don't see any oil on it, then keep looking. I'd check the clutch slave first. Also have one...:)

yea, your gonna need a new gasket for the slave but I'd pop it off and see if the piston diaphram is leaking...

Good deal, Jack Flash! I do not feel any oil or residue around the reservoir. My second guess was the slave since it is probably a very small leak. I'll pop it off tomorrow and post what I find soon after on here.

Slave is more likely at fault. I had the same issue with my VFR. Leak was at the slave. Disassembled and cleaned it and so far good after 11k miles and 8 months.

Rick, did you replace any of the parts? Or did it just need a good cleaning?

I just cleaned it and reassembled and hoped for the best. lol Depends on the conditon. I was lucky and did not need any new parts.

Don't use any harsh chemicals on the seal. I just used hot soapy water and diluted simple green.

If you need parts, it's probably just the seal. The slave is unlikely to be worn beyond serviceable. You might have to polish it a bit with some rubbing compound or vlave lapping compound.

Opened up the slave cylinder today. Needless to say, I found where the fluid had being disappearing to. The seal where the rod seats in is shot. I figure that's the piston diaphragm scottiemann mentioned. I'm going to order a new one along with all the other parts that go in there as a precaution.
