VTR COP Kit with New or tested good used coils
NOW available with brand new coil’s If you have wanted to clean up the VTR frame area up front, shed a bit of weight, replace old spark plug caps, leads and coils by installing Denso Coil On Plug coils...but did not want to hack up your harness or do any wiring at all.... Now you can. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...a5919d4953.jpg Better then OEM quality modern sealed connectors that directly plug into the VTR wiring harness and coils. If you can unplug and remove your old plug wires and coils, you can install this harness. Buyer can choose any of the 5 types of cable sheathing I have available. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...15c9e32854.jpg This MOD uses the DENSO Coil On Plug (COP), sometime referred to as "Stick Coils". In the motorcycle world they have a high time before failure rate, with low known failures overall in common use, making used DENSO coils a good deal. The DENSO coil like that which comes on the Honda CBR1000 works well with reusing the lower part of the stock spark plug boot. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...b8e368c6c1.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...92b40811f3.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...690d3c679f.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...cd32e526a4.jpg If long coils are purchased they will come prepped for boot install. The lower section of the coil is relieved so the boot will fit easier over the coil https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...ee884b9bd4.jpg The coil will come prepped for install of your trimmed spark plug boot.. NOTE I do not supply the spark plug boots to to MOD and use with your COP install. That is on the bike owner to source if you do not have a set currently to use. Good news is used VTR spark plug wires are cheap on ebay, and they can be purchased as a new service part as well. The shorter COP like found on CBR600 bikes, fits on the VTR plug and head, but will need a different approach then the long COP for sealing out moisture due to not enough coil length though the seal to seat on the spark plug when trimmed. Im only offering the long COP in the full kit. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...64f23152b8.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...1098d8666c.jpg Two custom harness to adapt DENSO coils to the VTR are $55.00 shipped in the US 48 contiguous states. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...2dff8b6548.jpg Pricing for used long coil and harness kits $89.50 shipped in the US. Now available brand new Denso coils and custom harness kits $159.50 shipped in the US Shipping cost to other locations will be quoted upon request. I have shipped small packages to the UK, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and a few other non US locations in recent months through US Priority mail which is typically 6-10 business days at $38.THAT IS NOT A SHIPPING QUOTE. Just some recent past experience to give you an idea. If you have a fellow VTR rider in your location you want to do a group buy with for combined shipping, I will do that.. Each person can pay individually, and I will send all items in a single package to the groups chosen recipient. After that it is up to the group to work though forwarding the other items. I am not responsible for non receipt of items past the original recipient address. Of note, I can fit 5 harness only kits in a single small shipping box, or two harness and coil kits. More then that would require additional packing size with increased cost. Again, if the package is going to a non US location, you must send me a full shipping address and request a shipping quote to get firm pricing. If all that sounds excessive, it is..I have had ZERO issues, complaints, misunderstandings on things I've sent out because I try and explain in detail upfront so there are no hard feelings after the sale. Im a one man shop, doing this mostly because I can and I enjoy having parts I make or MOD out there supporting like VTR nuts like me. End of the day, this kit is nothing most could not cobble together themselves.. But its a bit of a learning curve to crimp properly the small terminal pins and sockets, if you don't have the proper crimper you'll need to buy it, same with the supplies, connectors, wire, heat shrink tube and sheathing..I buy in bulk and that keeps the cost down...If making wiring harness is not something you do often, it likely will cost you more to make your own.. If you really want to build your own regardless of cost or leaning curve (or perhaps for the learning curve) PM me,Happy to help where I can. |

Eric, I'm going to want a set of Red (#4) COP leads. I'll PM and Pay Pal you on the 9th when I get my SS check. Thanks for your innovative mods for our beloved Superhawks. It's cool that people like you are still developing a bike that's been out of production for 14 years. At 64, it's a toss up as to whether riding or tinkering on my SH is more fun.

Parts came in this morning at 10 AM, 8 kits went in the mail today.... I can only do harness till the next batch of coils show up.
On the bright side, with the wire and sheathing length gauge I made today, another set of crimper's that are optimized for these smaller than common terminal pins, and 8 kits built back to back........Im getting faster...lol Last one for the day https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...cca85568b3.jpg |

Fit and finish
In order to fit the stock plug boot on the coil, the bottom part of the coil has to be reduced. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...c347f8434.jpeg currently I’m doing so by hand on a sander with a little bit a file work it’s not as clean as I would like it but is fully functional https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sup...8e46d245a.jpeg if somebody would prefer to do this fit and finish on their own please say so at time of order and I’ll leave them unmodified. in the process of building a roller jig to make the modification a little quicker and more consistent but it may be sometime before I get that up and running |
Eric, I want a set of red leads. I sent a PM and Pay Pal.
