Losing My Mind on eBay!

I have put my pristine '02 SuperHawk up for auction on eBay. I thought I'd put in a low reserve price ($3995) thinking that would generate a lot interest. I also put in a buy-it-now price. Now the crazy part, it hit its reserve on the first day and hasn't moved in price since. I also found out that when an item hits its reserve price the buy-it-now price is no longer in affect. AARRGH, nobody told me that, now with only 2 1/2 days left my beautiful SuperHawk could actually sell for only $3995. I will lose my mind if that happens. Someone will have to talk me down off of the ledge if this continues. Here is the eBay link for your amusement and my agony.

Hate to say it, but that's about what they're going for...:(

Then he'll get hit for the auction fees which aren't cheap.

I'd say cancel it with "an error in the listing" reason and relist. Better check and see if ebay might have charges for doing that too.

Not to sound too much like your dad but,

1. That's about what Super Hawks bring these days. Frankly, I'm surprised somebody went as high as the reserve on a completely stock Super Hawk.

2. You should have known all this before starting the auction.

We've all heard of buyer beware, but on Ebay it's seller beware!

Good luck bro!

maybe a friend/member on this forum could benefit from a beautiful, stock hawk?
just wishful thinking....

If it comes down to it, you can pull the auction, of course you loose your listing fee's..pretty sure that's all..I have had to do it a time or two...

As stated before, that is about what they are going for..I have good luck selling bikes on Craigs List...Might wanna try there...And it's free!

theres tone of hawks out there with anywhere from 11,000 to 30,000 for 2500 to 4000.... no less and no more.. most hawks i see are 3000 to 3500 and pristine condition.. if you sold it for 3995 be happy. especially off ebay..dont be suprised if your buyer goes awol!!!

cliby 08-26-2008 01:17 PM

A lot of people watch and then buy at the very end. I bet most bidding occurs the final hour, even less. If it hit reserve this early, I doubt bidding has stopped. Don't despair yet (in addition to all the reality checks above).

Crawdaddy 08-26-2008 03:20 PM

Don't measure success by where the price is sitting now.........take a look at how many people at "watching" your auction.....you're already at $4K which IS market price for these bikes so you're already in good shape (IMHO).....most likely the bidding frenzy, if any, will take place in the last 5 minutes and may push it up a few more hundred.....

Hey, you can always PM the current high bidder and tell'em to buy MY bike for ~$3800 if that'll make ya feel better :D

newb007 08-26-2008 04:45 PM

One bid and hitting the reserve sounds WAY suspicious to me. Either someone is about to not pay you and the auction will end up being closed due to buyer not paying. Isn't this the bike you accidentally won in an auction to up the price $50 while burning the burgers? Time to let her go?

One and the same. I'm a car guy and have always respected and wanted a high performance street bike. I love the look and the technology packed into such a small package. And the performance, WOW! I could go into a lot of psycho babble but for some reason I just can't get used to street riding. I grew up riding and (racing a little) on dirt bikes in my teens but I just can't get comfortable riding on the street. I don't enjoy riding my Bianci road bicycle that much either but love I my Santa Cruz mountain bike. I'm just never at ease. I have taken several high performance driving schools at Road Atlanta over the years and in a car I can find the limit with ease and personal comfort. But this motorcycle is a whole different beast when it comes to finding that limit, no thanks. In a car I can drift and dance all day but how do you find that limit on a bike without going to far? Don't get me wrong I can ride but I just can't get comfortable at the limit. I wonder if Dr. Malfie has any openings now that the Sapranos has ended?
